MINUTES
May 2, 2016

Chairperson Skowron called the meeting to order at 5:47 p.m.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Chairperson Skowron asked for a motion to approve the Open Session Minutes of April 4, 2016.
A motion was made by Commissioner Bennett and seconded by Commissioner Powers.
Roll Call: Ayes: Busse, Powers, Skowron Nays: None Abstain: Bennett Motion Carried
Chairperson Skowron asked for a motion to approve the Open Session Minutes of April 11, 2016.
A motion was made by Commissioner Bennett and seconded by Commissioner Busse.
Roll Call: Ayes: Bennett, Busse, Skowron Nays: None Abstain: Powers Motion Carried
Chairperson Skowron asked for a motion to approve the Open Session Minutes of April 12, 2016.
A motion was made by Commissioner Bennett and seconded by Commissioner Busse.

No one in attendance.
Commissioner Hinaber arrived at 5:55 p.m.
POLICE DEPARTMENT UPDATE
Chief Janowick reported the two new recruits are doing well at the academy. One police officer candidate
is in the process and if they pass the remaining tests, they will attend the July academy. Chief Janowick
reported on staffing changes for the department, as well as the new electronic records management
program the department is implementing.
FIRE SERVICE HOME DAY INVITE
Fire Chief Lambel distributed a flyer to the Fire Service Home Day at NIPSTA. It is an opportunity to see
the NIPSTA facility and attend the different informational sessions.
FIRE DEPARTMENT UPDATE
Fire Chief Lambel reported the Fire Department is also looking to introduce new software within the next
few years. Candidate Jeff Marlowe passed all required tests and he will be sworn -in on May 17th at 4:00
p.m. Fire Chief Lambel reported on staffing, which included an update on the nine firefighters on
probation.
Chief Janowick was excused from the meeting at 6:16 p.m.

CLOSED SESSION
Chairperson Skowron asked for a motion to go into closed session under Personnel 5 ILCS 120/2 (c) (1) -
The appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees
of the public body, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee to determine
its validity and to approve the closed session minutes of April 4, April 11 and April 12, 2016.
A motion was made by Commissioner Bennett and seconded by Commissioner Busse to go into Closed
Session at 6:17 p. m,
Roll Call: Ayes: Bennett, Busse, Hinaber, Powers, Skowron Nays: None Abstain: None Motion Carried
The Board returned to open session, with everyone present from the previous session at 7:59 p.m.
Other Business
Chairperson Skowron reminded everyone that the next meeting is June 6, 2016, and the swearing in of
the firefighter on May 17, 2016, at 4:00 p.m.
With no further business, a motion was made by Commissioner Powers and seconded by Commissioner
Bennett to adjourn the meeting at 8:00 p.m.
