B. Fire Department Swearing Ceremony Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) grant hires Interim Fire Chief Brian Lambel provided a brief background on the steps that led to tonight's swearing in of 6 (six) new firefighters/paramedics. The economic crisis in 2010 caused a reduction in staff that effected most departments within the Village. This caused the Fire Department to reduce its staff by six personnel through attrition. Since then, the Fire Department's leadership made it their top priority to regain those positions. On July 31, 2015 the Mount Prospect Fire Department was awarded $1,385,184 through the SAFER grant. Securing these funds allowed the Fire Department to begin the process of recruiting, screening and hiring personnel. Today marks the final step in this process. Chief Lambel thanked his staff, who were instrumental in securing the Grant, the Village Board for their support, residents for their patience and support, and the Police Department all working together to make this happen. Interim Fire Chief Lambel Lambel presented the six newest members of the Mount Prospect Fire Department: Andrew Maynard Michael Filpi Joseph Salecki Joshua Wojnowski Ryan Lawler John Kelly Mr. Busse administered the Oath of Office to each new member. Family, friends and Mount Prospect Fire Department retirees were present to join the Village Board in celebrating this important occasion.
