Lisa Angell Phone: 847/392-6000 Fax: 847/392-6022 www. mountprospect.org The meeting convened at 9:00 a.m. Village Board members present were trustees Steve Polit and Richard Rogers. Representing Staff was Assistant Village Manager Dave Strahl, Community Development Director Bill Cooney and Interim Fire Chief Brian Lambel. Residents in Attendance John Ellenberger Redwood Drive Carol Tortorello Elmhurst Avenue Chris Rogers Laurel Drive Jim Chylik Locust Lane Ken Koeppen Linneman Drive Louis Goodman School Street Jerry Boldt School Street Tom Tezky School Street Barbie and Steve Van Arsdale Can Dota Avenue Carolyn Hajost Rand Road Jan Kent Briarwood Drive Bill Millar Central Road Teri Markovits Briarwood Drive Craig Iversen Wille Street Tom Manion Edward Street Max Romanowicz Ardyce Lane David Schein Na Wa Ta Avenue Trustee Rogers opened the meeting with general remarks, introduced the Trustees in attendance and then moved to the resident portion of the meeting. John Ellenberger, Redwood Drive — Mr. Ellenberger wished everyone Happy Holidays. Carol Tortorello, Elmhurst Avenue — Ms. Tortorello stated that the Shining Star winners were official for 2016 and congratulated all honorees. Chris Rogers, Laurel Drive—She had nothing to add. Jim Chylik - Wished everyone a Merry Christmas. Ken Koeppen, Linneman Road — Stated that he was recently sent an e-mail that was clearly fraudulent that requested personal and financial information. He warned others to be alert for such scams. He also advised the group that you can now mail items to Cuba. Louis Goodman, School Street — Mr. Goodman asked if the Village followed Robert's Rules when conducting meetings. He was advised that we do. Jerry Boldt, School Street — Mr. Boldt stated that he felt that the Village should reduce the proposed 2016 property tax levy as many seniors are struggling financially, especially with Social Security being frozen this year. There was much discussion regarding the levy, especially as it relates to the SAFER grant/hiring of 6 fire fighters. Thomas Tezky, School Street — He had nothing to add. Barbie and Steve Van Arsdale, Can Dota Avenue — They had nothing to add. Carolyn Hajost, Rand Road — Ms. Hajost wanted to thank Julie Kane for all of her efforts made to assist her nephew recently. She was very complimentary of Ms. Kane's efforts and the services provided by the Village. Craig Iversen, Wille Street — He had nothing to add. Jan Kent, Briarwood Drive — Ms. Kent inquired about the status of the Lynn Court annexation efforts. Mr. Cooney stated that the Village was holding a public hearing on January 5th to annex a portion of the Tollway which would then enable the Village to pursue the annexation of the Lynn Court properties. He expects that to be completed by May. Bill Millar, Central Road — Mr. Millar provided an update on the Westbrook School improvement project. He stated that the School District hadn't installed landscape islands in the parking lot yet, that patrons were violating the no left turn in off of Central Road and that the no left turn sign was installed improperly. Mr. Cooney stated that staff was aware of the landscape islands and that he would advise the appropriate departments about the other items. Teri Markovits, Briarwood Drive — She had nothing to add. Tom Manion, Edward Drive — Mr. Manion thanked everyone in the room for attending the meeting and sharing their views. Max Romanowicz, Ardyce Lane — He had nothing to add. David Schein, Na Wa Ta Avenue — Mr. Schein stated that he had placed some household items out at the curb for garbage collection and that some of the items were not picked up. There was general discussion about various rules guiding what will be picked up and what will not. He also informed the audience that the Secretary of State is not sending out notices for license plate renewals so everyone should check to ensure that their plates are not expired.
