FrenchMarket Report
November 12, 2015
Prepared by: Judy McGinnis, Sister Cities Commissioner
Thank you all for making the Mount Prospect Marché Français, Farmers’ Market with a French Twist, a very
special day! This was the 7th year we have held this event and the weather was gorgeous, bringing blue skies
from
and nice temperatures, resulting in a wonderful turnout. The event was held on Sunday, September 13
th
8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Thanks go out to the Mount Prospect Lions Club for offering us the space and
support once again to make this event possible, Public Works for their hard work in setting up the tents and
organization that made it all run so seamlessly, and thank you to all who volunteered with their time in
preparing for the event, manning the Sister Cities Tent and to all who donated items for our booth.

Set-up – Public Works
The Public Works Department was extremely instrumental in setting up for the French Market and in
securing the necessary items to make this event possible. They set up tents, tables, chairs and assisted vendors
as needed.
Retro Bistro
Retro Bistro once again generously lent us café tables and chairs for the seating area and this year was back
again with their own booth selling delicious profiteroles.
Entertainment
This year, we had recorded French music provided by Barbara and Steve Van Arsdale playing though the
speakers and giving a French vibe to the event. We saved $400 dollars (compared with last year) by providing
our own music. Thanks Barb and Steve!!
The Mount Prospect Public Library once again led an enthusiastic group in storytime. There was a nice
turnout and the children and families were very engaged and enjoyed themselves.

A Final Note: We received many compliments about our new Parisian-styled Flea Market, with many
customers asking if we had a store or if we would be back every week!! We are looking forward to next year
and hope to add some new vendors to the mix. It’s not too early to start putting aside treasures for next year’s
Market! (Please hold them for donation until closer to the date).
