CC Minutes 10/07/2015 CENTENNIAL COMMISSION REGULAR MEETING MINUTES Meeting Location: Meeting Date and Time: rd Village Hall 3 floor Executive Conference Room October 7, 2015 50 South Emerson Street 3:00 p.m. Mount Prospect, Illinois 60056 I. CALL TO ORDER at 3:00 pm by Murphy. II. ROLL CALL III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES September 2, 2015 Meeting Minutes Moved by Zulaski. Seconded by Hoefert. Motion passed. IV. CITIZENS TO BE HEARD NONE PRESENT V. OLD BUSINESS A. Report: Sponsorships Skip Farley, Leo Floros, Christy Watychowicz Floros & Skip Farley are awaiting list of businesses from MP finance manager, David Erb. Floros& Skip Farley will contact business representatives to solicit sponsorships for centennial activities. Sponsorship page will appear on centennial website. Website will indicate which sponsorships are already taken. B. Report: Musical extravaganza at Celestial Celebration Leo Floros th Celestial Celebration & 100 Anniversary representatives will meet later today (Oct 7, 2015). C. Report: Progress on plan for approaching area schools John Zulaski, Patrick Mogge centennial recognition in curriculum from Jan 2017 through Dec 2017. Student work might be displayed on website or empty storefront. Wheeling High School Jazz combo has agreed to play early evening at Feb 4, 2017 Anniversary event. Commission will encourage schools to include Centennial recognition in school activities. D. Report: Contact/meeting with clubs and organizations Sharon Anderson Second meeting TBD will be held first quarter of 2016. E. Report: Permanent memorial Mayor Arlene A. Juracek, Jean Murphy Five families will be approached to contribute toward memorials. Each bronze plaque for the five families costs $1400. The family garden will house plaques for the four founding families at a cost of $1250each. The large sign detailing village incorporation is $1500. Centennial Green garden will be dedicated on Feb 3, 2017 just before fireworks celebration. F. Report: International event with Chamber John Zulaski, Alex Bertolucci Extending the block party with a food tent was discussed at the Centennial Commission September 2015 meeting. Subsequent discussion has pointed to summer 2017. Village owns some tents and vendors own some tents. A food event similar to theFrench Market is being investigated for the first 2 weeks of October, 2017. The Centennial Commission is encouraging MP library to have an event. Clubs, societies, organizations will be encouraged to put their activities on Centennial website. First responders will be approached to read a Commission will ask MP Lions Club for a date at the 2017 Commission will talk to current French Market organizers for background. Perhaps entertainment/music will take place in tent. G. Report: Re-enactment ceremony and evening Mayor Arlene A. Juracek, Sharon Anderson The re-enactment will take place Friday, Feb 3, 2017, the eve of Celestial Celebration. Attendance will be invitation only. The gathering will take place at 4 locations at 7:00 pm. The ceremony will take place at 7:30 pm at the Historical Society. Invitees will include: top donors, representatives from founding families, elected officials, and dignitaries. The ceremony will be telecast to the other three locations. Village Hall & Library will accommodate roughly 500 individuals. St. Paul unknown. Invitations will include event, date,and time with a second enclosure indicating which site. Refreshments will include cookies and maybe other finger food. No alcohol will be served. Tables will not be provided. At 8:15 pm people will move outside to view fireworks launched from the village parking deck. Downtown restaurants will be contacted about the event so that they might prepare for diners before and after ceremony. H. Report: Historical structure signs Jean Murphy, Janice Farley Historical Structure signs will be part of sponsorship schedule. I. Report: Commemorative posters Jean Murphy Three pictures have been selected of the downtown area. Each is priced at $20. A set of 3 will be priced at $50. VI. NEW BUSINESS Floros & Skip Farley will ask to be part of the MP Economic Business presentation agenda on October 15, 2015. They will discuss the Centennial Sponsorship program and indicate they will contact business owners. VII. OTHER BUSINESS member roundtable additional ideas? Comments? Watychowicz will meet w/Public Works to discuss hydrant painting. Skowron, Watychowicz, & Rice will meet Wednesday, Oct. 21 to discuss an app development. VIII.
