Mayor's Report 11/03/2015 P R O C L A M A T I O N NOVEMBER 4-10, 2015 education is the process by which one generation passes on to the next WHEREAS, joy of learning itself; and WHEREAS, for the future; and in the study of foreign languages people have an immediate bridge to WHEREAS, international understanding and cooperation; and the study of the French language by generations of American youth has WHEREAS, fostered greater understanding and an appreciation for the people and cultures of France and the French-speaking world; and this study will continue to bridge the miles that separate the students of WHEREAS, the United States with those regions of the French-speaking world; and since 2000, the Village of Mount Prospect has enjoyed a Sister City WHEREAS, relationship with Sèvres, France, a relationship strengthened by an enhanced understanding of each others culture. , I, Arlene A. Juracek, Mayor of the Village of Mount Prospect, do NOW, THEREFORE hereby proclaim the week of November 4-10, 2015 as in the Village of Mount Prospect, and I urge all residents to express their appreciation teachers of French. __________________________________ Arlene A. IVE CARE MONTH, NOVEMBER 2015 AND NOVEMBER 12, 2015 AS WHEREAS, hospice and palliative care empower people to live as fully as possible, surrounded and supported by family and loved ones, despite serious and life-limiting illness; and WHEREAS, hospice and palliative care brings patients and family caregivers the highest quality care delivered by an interdisciplinary team of skilled professionals that includes physicians, nurses, social workers, therapists, counselors, health aides, spiritual care providers and others who make the wishes of each patient and family a priority; and WHEREAS, through pain management and symptom control, caregiver training and assistance, and emotional and spiritual support, allowing patients to live fully and make more meaningful moments until the end, surrounded and supported by the faces of loved ones, friends, and committed caregivers; and WHEREAS, each year, hospice saves Medicare more than $2 billion by providing solutions for physicians, care to patients and comfort to families anywhere, at any time; and WHEREAS, every year an estimated 1.6 million Americans living with life-limiting illness, and their families, received care from over 3,800 hospice programs in communities throughout the United States; and WHEREAS, the most recent statistics report that more than 355,000 trained volunteers contributed 16 million hours of service to hospice programs last year; and WHEREAS, hospice and palliative care providers encourage all people to learn more about options of care and to share their wishes with family, loved ones, and their healthcare professionals. NOW, THEREFORE, I , Arlene A. Juracek, Mayor of the Village of Mount Prospect, Illinois do hereby proclaim the month of November, 2015 as HOSPICE AND PALLIATIVE CARE MONTH and NOVEMBER 12, 2015 AS REMEMBRANCE DAY and, I encourage the residents our community to increase their understanding and awareness of care at the end of life. ______________________________ Arlene A.
