Domestic Violence Awareness Month
October 2015
WHEREAS, violence against women and children continues to become amore prevalent problem in the Northwest
Suburbs; and
WHEREAS, the problems of domestic violence affects all citizens of Illinois and are not confined to any group of
people, but cross all economic, gender, racial and societal barriers and are supported by societal indifference; and
WHEREAS, the crime of domestic violence violates an individual's privacy, dignity, security and humanity through
the systematic use of physical, emotional, sexual, psychological and economic control and/or abuse; and
WHEREAS, the impact of domestic violence is wide-ranging, directly affecting families, children and society as a
whole; and
WHEREAS, 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men have been victims of physical violence by an intimate partner within their
lifetime. (according to the CDC.gov/violenceprevention/pdf/nisys report2010-a.pdf)
WHEREAS, Over 30,000 orders of protections are written in Cook County a year; and
WHEREAS, we ask residents to learn more about the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence's Domestic
Violence campaign to "Take a Stand Against Domestic Violence" or the Chicago Says No More Campaign at ending
violence; and
WHEREAS, local educational information and resources are available by visiting the www.endallabuse.org Web site;
and
WHEREAS, it is fitting to set aside a special time to bring this issue to the attention of all residents of the Village of
Mount Prospect so they can become better informed and involved in local programs to end the cycle of violence.
NOW, THEREFORE, I Arlene A. Juracek, Mayor of the Village of Mount Prospect, do hereby proclaim the month
of October 2015 as
"DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS MONTH"
in the Village of Mount Prospect, and encourage residents to join forces with the Northwest Suburban Alliance on
Domestic Violence, law enforcement, social service organizations and concerned citizens across the country to raise
the public awareness of domestic violence issues.

WHEREAS, October 2015 is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and October 16 is
National Mammography Day; and
WHEREAS, breast cancer is the most common cancer site, and the second deadliest
cancer among women; and
WHEREAS,
in 8 and the chance of dying from breast cancer is 1 in 36; and
WHEREAS, it is estimated that in 2015 over 230,000 women will be diagnosed with breast
cancer and approximately 40,000 will die; and
WHEREAS, in 2015 it is estimated that among men, there will be over 2,300 new cases of
breast cancer and approximately 400 breast cancer deaths; and
WHEREAS, research has shown that taking advantage of early detection methods such as
mammography and clinical breast exams could help drop the cancer rate by as much as 30
percent; and
WHEREAS, death rates from breast cancer have been declining, and this change is
believed to be the result of earlier detection and improved treatment; and
WHEREAS, mammography - -- is recognized as the single most
effective method of detecting breast changes that may be cancer long before physical
symptoms can be seen or felt.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Arlene A. Juracek, Mayor of the Village of Mount Prospect, do

PROCLAMATION
"FIRE PREVENTION WEEK"
OCTOBER 4 - 10, 2015
WHEREAS, Mount Prospect is committed to ensuring the safety and security of
all those living in and visiting our community; and
WHEREAS, fire is a serious public safety concern both locally and nationally,
and homes are the locations where people are at greatest risk from fire; and
WHEREAS, home fires killed more than 2,700 people in the United States in
2014, according to the National Fire Protection Association; and
WHEREAS, working smoke alarms cut the risk of dying in reported home fires
in half; and
WHEREAS, Mount Prospect residents should install smoke alarms in every
sleeping room, outside each separate sleeping area, and on every level of the
home; and
WHEREAS, Mount Prospect residents are responsive to public education
measures and are able to take personal steps to increase their safety from fire,
especially in their homes; and
WHEREAS, the 2015 Fire Prevention Week theme, "Hear the Beep Where
You Sleep" effectively serves to remind us that we need working smoke alarms
to give us the time to get out safely.
NOW THEREFORE, I, Arlene A. Juracek, Mayor of the Village of Mount
Prospect, do hereby proclaim October 4-10, 2015, as
"FIRE PREVENTION WEEK"
In the Village and I call upon the people of the Village of Mount Prospect to
remember the 2015 message, "Hear the Beep Where You Sleep"

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 13 OF THE
VILLAGE CODE OF MOUNT PROSPECT
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT
PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS ACTING IN THE EXERCISE OF THEIR HOME RULE POWERS:
SECTION ONE: That in accordance with Subsection A of Section 13.108 of Chapter 13 of the Village Code of
Mount Prospect, as amended, the Corporate Authorities shall determine the number of Liquor Licenses
available in each Classification and shall establish a list specifying the number of Liquor Licenses authorized.
Said list is hereby amended by decreasing the number of "Class F-2" Liquor License by One (1) TASTE
GOOD CORPORATION d/b/a PHOTO'S HOTDOGS 1706 E. KENSINGTON ROAD Said list is as follows:
