MEETING MINUTES
JANUARY 21, 1993
PRESENT: Dick Bachhuber, Bill Donovan, George Luteri,
Rodney Mobus, Harold Rentschler, Holly Tabbert-Johnson,
and Ken Westlake.

CALL TO ORDER:
The meeting was called to order at 7:30 PM by Chairman Westlake.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
The minutes from the December 17 meeting were approved as writ-
ten.
CITIZEN FORUM:
Although Mr. Hendricks arrived just before the meeting was ad-
journed the Commission allowed him to address the group. Mr.
Hendricks updated the Commission on the Public Hearing currently
being held; Des Plaines vs SWANCC. The City of Des Plaines is
challenging the siting of the transfer station located in Wheel-
ing Township.
SOLID WASTE PROGRAMS
The Solid Waste Coordinator reported on the following:
. Two multifamily sites began recycling in January; Timberlake
(222 units) and Timberlane (72 units).
. This season's Christmas tree collection program was met with
confusion and challenged by some residents. A full report will
be submitted for review and recommendations for Public Works
Administration and the Solid Waste Commission.
SOLID WASTE AGENCY.OF NORTHERN COOK COUNTY:
Vice Chair Luteri provided an overview of the Committee's Janu-
ary meeting. He explained Trustee Corcoran's suggestion for the
River Forest Civic Association to research and possibly resur-
rect the Feehanville Drainage District as a revenue source to
meet their needs. SWANCC has offered to assist with the re-
search but it is the responsibility of the Association to take
any necessary measures in pursuing revenue.
The Public Works Director and Solid Waste Coordinator informed
the Commission that Village Administration is aware of their
support for SWANCC's pilot household hazardous waste program. A
letter of support has been submitted for review by Village Admin-
istration, the letter will be submitted to the Chicago Community
Trust should the Village seek consideration as a possible pilot
site.
MULTIFAMILY SITES - Planning and Zoning Ordinance
Commission members serving on the subcommittee to draft an ordi-
nance addressing solid waste services for newly constructed
multifamily sites will meet Wednesday, January 27, 7:30 PM at
the Public Works Facility.
MONTHLY.DATA:
The Commissioners reviewed the monthly and year end solid waste
data prior to the meeting. There were no comments or questions
regarding the data.
OTHER
The Commission requested a congratulatory letter be written to
Mr. Obie of Environmint. Mr. Obie is a recent recipient of the
Governor's Pollution Prevention Award. Vice Chair Luteri had an
opportunity to tour Mr. Obie's business and shared his experi-
ence with the Commission.
The Public Works Director informed the Commission that the Pub-
lic Works Open House would be held Saturday, May 15 from 9:00 AM
to 1:00 PM. There was interest among the Commissioners to par-
ticipate in the event.
NEXT MEETING:
The next Commission meeting is scheduled for Thursday, February
18, 7:30 PM in the Public Works Facility, 1700 West Central Road.

There being no further business a motion to adjourn was made,
seconded and unanimously approved. The meeting was adjourned at
9:23 PM.
