EMERSON ST., 847/392-6000, OR EMAIL DOREEN JAROSZ AT d arosz q)mouniprospect.org Village of Mount Prospect Mount Prospect, Illinois INTEROFFICE MEMORANDUM TO: SISTER CITIES COMMISSION MEMBERS FROM: PUBLIC INFORMATION OFFICER DATE: AUGUST 14, 2015 SUBJECT: LOGO AND LETTERHEAD DESIGN FOR SISTER CITIES COMMISSION BACKGROUND The Mount Prospect Sister Cities Commission continues to expand its programming and community events. Over the past year, the topic of branding and marketing has been discussed at several Sister Cities Commission meetings. Mayor Juracek volunteered to research available images online and created a mock-up logo design in Microsoft Word (attached). PROPOSAL & RECOMMENDATION A logo designed in Microsoft Word has limited use and will not reproduce well above a letterhead size. Therefore, Village staff is recommending using a professional graphic designer to convert the logo draft to create usable files for official business templates, electronic and print media, and marketing products. The logo must be designed in the manner of a vector file in software such as Adobe Illustrator. This simply means that the logo would retain its quality and will not be manipulated when used in various ways (i.e. on bags, t -shirts, invitations, posters, etc.). Village staff recommends using the services of the same freelance designer who has produced a variety of Village - related projects, including the logo for Marche Francais - A Farmers' Market with a French Twist. The estimated cost to design the logo is between $300 to $450. Please advise staff whether to move forward with this project.
