V.OLD BUSINESS A.Report: Introduction of Lindsay Rice, independent website contractor–Jean Murphy B.Report: Progress on website – Ricedistributed a packet demonstrating year to date progress on Commission website. Electronictimeline at the bottom of website is free. It may continue w/purple backgroundor may change.Topics are place holdersfor future projects. “Digging below the surface” will reveala subset of Mount Prospect (MP)history. MP Historical Society has articles that can be incorporatedinto website.New additionswill be labeled as newso regular website followers will be alerted to new content.Facebook will have a feed. Suggestion of “carousel” use on front pageto highlight newmaterial.Criteria for submission to Centennial Calendarwill be developed.Suggestion made to use an app for citizen submittal of photographs. There will be a merchandise section for selling Centennial items. MP Historical Societywill handle website sales –will sell, will box, will ship. Other entities may request a link to sell theircentennial themed items. Sponsors section will show logos and link to sponsors’ websites. There will alsobe a PDF page of Sponsorship. There will be a section to request help for specific centennial projects and tasks. Volunteers can sign up. There will be a section to request the Logo of Rice so that Rice can manage the requests. There will be a section for curriculum for teachers. There will be a section for one organization to request cooperation from another organization. Last page isthe list of Centennial Commission members’ names and perhaps comments to the question “whyis history of value?”Commission consensus valued the presentation and told Riceto continueher website development.Soft launch is targeted forOct 2015 as aBeta w/commission members accessing websiteto use, evaluate, and present feedback.Hard launchis targetedforJanuary 2016. C.Report: Possible publication of Centennial magazine/book –Leo Floros, Skip Farley Floros and Skip Farley met withDaily Heraldto discuss historical magazine.Distribution to all subscribers. Bulk drops would occur at designated places. Centennial Commission would receive 10% of the ad salesof $20K or more. If ad sales are less than $20K, Centennial revenuedrops to 5%. Target is to publishlate in 2016.Heraldwill probably start soliciting ads in March 2016. Hundreiser will talk to MP Chamber to inquire about their magazine to minimize overlap of ad sales. Todd Wessell of Journal & Topics had appeared at the Jan.2015 meeting and expressed a desire to meet with Centennial Commission. Aftercontact withWessell, Floros and Skip Farley reported that Wessell declined to pursue ahistorical magazinein concert with the Centennial Commission. D.Report: Possible musical extravaganza –Leo Florosand Sharon Anderson met w/MP Park District (MPPD)to coordinate.The Commissionrepresentativesencouraged the MPPD to brandthe current concerts and activitiesas100 year anniversarycelebrations. The Centennial Commissionwill advertise existing activities which use the 100AnniversaryLogo. Other entities are encouraged to publicize and use the100year Logo. Celestial Celebration will be asked to tie into 100 year anniversary.Commission will request to air a 10 minutevideoof MP historyat the dinner. Perhaps the Celestial Celebration Committee will highlightformer elected officials & founding families. Commission would like a well-known entertainer to headlinea show. th E.Report: Silver coin sales –Mayor Arlene A.Juracek There are 62 75Anniversary silver coins still th available for sale (value is $20). Juracek’s suggestion is to package a75year silver coin, aMP Historical SocietyXmas ornament, and certificate in a box. Juracek estimated current costat $65/$70. Juracek will continue exploration. Price is not established yet. F.Report: Permanent memorial –Mayor ArleneA.Juracek Juracekmet with Meyn family representative.Current suggestion (a change from the previous Jan.7, 2015 meetingdiscussion) is to affix a brass plaquefor each of the four founding familiesonthe outside of Village Hall. Juracek will write a proposal package toeach of the fourfamilies to continuethe discussion. VI.NEWBUSINESS a.Sponsorship levels –Christy Watychowicz, Skip Farley, Leo Floros Soliciting sponsorships should start the Fall of 2015.Sponsorship Committee discussed various levels.Murphy will check with Strahl on generating invoices. b.Anniversary license plates –Alex Bertolucci Following Bertolucci’s presentation of cost and revenue, commission members decided that the cost and time does not indicate abenefit to us. We will not pursue. Bertolucci will explore license plate holders. Moggewill forward infoto Bertolucci for discussion at next meeting. VII.OTHER BUSINESS–member roundtable–additional ideas? Comments? Bertolucci reported on Strahl’s contact w/American Water regarding decorating of their water hydrants. Strahlhas received no response so far. MP Public Works said fouryears is the painting cyclefor Village owned water hydrants. Bertolucci will investigate if the four year cycle could be adjusted to accommodate at least a oneyear of display. Murphy reported that she rented P.O. Box 256 at Mt. ProspectPost Office for Centennial business.She also purchased a hard drive for Rice’s use. TheMP History Society will purchaseother items for Rice’s use. Murphy addressed the Elected Officials “After Hours” at the MP Library at end of February. They asked for Centennial activitiesfor students. John Zulaski and Patrick Mogge will explore.
