Mr. Elenberger complimented Sean Dorsey and Public Works on the great work they did on his street. In
a letter of appreciation to Mr. Dorsey, he called his street Redwood Boulevard instead of Redwood Drive
because it looked so good. Mr. Elenberger commented he is happy to see the Citizens Police Academy
hosted by the Police Department again and he believes everyone should attend, as it is very informative.
Carol Tortorello, S. Elmhurst Aveue
Ms.Tortorello asked if the Village has a tree for the holiday lighting. Mr. Janonis responded not yet, but
they are currently looking at one and Homer Tree Service will handle the relocation of the tree.
Jim Chylik, Locust Lane
Mr. Chylik inquired as to why the sign at Lonnquist and Busse, which made people aware of the new
pedestrian sign, is gone and if a new permanent sign would be installed. Trustee Zadel responded it was
only temporary. Mr. Janonis stated the pedestrians have the right of way and there would not be any sign
other than the one where you have to push a button. After a lengthy discussion, it was suggested Mr.
Chylik contact Engineering or attend the Transportation Commission Meeting on Monday to speak with
Matt Lawrie regarding what sign is applicable for the location.
Mr. Chylik asked if the Village is done with sidewalk replacement for the year. Mr. Janonis responded,
due to colder weather they need to finish the streets and then they will work on the sidewalks.
Jan Kent, Briarwood Drive
Ms. Kent inquired about the status of the annexation of the Lynn Court area and Mr. Janonis responded
there has been no change in status at this time.

Chris and Rich Rogers, N. Laurel

Thomas Tezky, North School
Mr. Tezky had no issues at this time.
David Wein and Steve Stillman, 2200 S. Busse Road
Mr. Wein from Irv’s Luggage attended to discuss the violation notice he received for the window graphics
at his store. Trustee Hoefert stated the contractor should have pulled a permit and the Building
Department would have told them at that time they were in violation. Mr. Stillman stated he had a
meeting with the Building Department and they informed him the 12’ x 12’ structure would not be
approved. Mayor Juracek explained the process and informed them they need start with the Building
Department and if necessary, they can request a variance from the Planning and Zoning Commission.
The Mayor further advised them, this is an informal meeting and their request requires formal action. The
Trustees agreed they might need to revisit the code at some point.
Louis Bowers, B. Boxwood
Mr. Bowers asked what Buffalo Boxes are and he was advised they turn the water on and off for the
property. Mr. Bowers also asked the if the Village could look at the median in the area trucks go in and
out of Home Depot, as it is difficult for people with wheel chairs to get around.
Max Romanowicz, E. Ardyce Lane
Mr. Romanowicz requested the Village look into the pedestrian lights at Central Road and Wolf Road, as
he does not believe the button is working properly and the timing is too short. Mr. Janonis said he would
have Traffic Engineering check into it.
Walter Szymczak, N. Eastwood
Mr. Szymczak inquired about recycling fluorescent bulbs and he was informed he could take them to
Public Works.
David Schein, Na Wa Ta Avenue
Mr. Schein asked if the Village Ordinance regarding beekeeping and ornamental tall weeds could be
revisited, as he believes these are beneficial insects. Mr. Schein also informed the group he put an
electronic sensor in the area where sewer work had been done on his property so people would be
cautious while walking. As someone approaches the area, the person hears “be careful watch your step”
and this scares some people, but he advised it would be gone in a few weeks.
Tom Manion, S. Edward
Mr. Manion was just there to observe.
There was a brief discussion on traffic enforcement of cell phone use. Deputy Police Chief Griffin said
officers are enforcing the use of a cell phone or texting while driving and there is a $75 fine associated
with a compliance ticket.
With no further business, Mayor Juracek adjourned the meeting at 10:20 a.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Timothy Griffin
Deputy Chief of Police
