Mayor's Report 11/05/2014 P R O C L A M A T I O N NOVEMBER 5-11, 2014 WHEREAS, education is the process by which one generation passes on to the next learning itself; and WHEREAS, future; and WHEREAS, in the study of foreign languages people have an immediate bridge to international understanding and cooperation; and WHEREAS, the study of the French language by generations of American youth has fostered greater understanding and an appreciation for the people and cultures of France and the French-speaking world; and WHEREAS, this study will continue to bridge the miles that separate the students of the United States with those regions of the French-speaking world; and WHEREAS, since 2000, the Village of Mount Prospect has enjoyed a Sister City relationship with Sèvres, France, a relationship strengthened by an enhanced understanding of each others culture. NOW, THEREFORE, I, Arlene A. GOLFROAD REQUEST FOR A NEW CLASS “F3” LIQUORLICENSE On Thursday October 16,2014the Village Manager and Administrative Assistant to the Village Manager met with prospective purchaserMichael Kautzandson Joe Kautzregardinghis request to assume ownership of theabove referenced establishment.The current owner is retiring and the purchase of the business is contingent uponapproval of the liquor license. Mr. Kautz is seeking to obtain a Class “F-3” designation whichprovides for full liquor serviceboth in a restaurant and lounge setting. Mr.Kautz previously held a liquor license in Des Plainesatthe Michael’s on the GreenCafé which was in good standing with themunicipality. Mr. Joe Kautz and Ms. Katie Kautz (owner and manager of Katie’s Kitchen in Des Plaines) will manage the daily operations of the restaurant. The business will continue to operate under the name Fellini Restaurant andPizzeria. Mr. Kautz indicated he anticipates the existing wait and support staff will remain with the restaurant. Lunch and dinner will continue to be served Tuesday through Sunday and hours of operation will remain the same. With regard to the interior configurationof the establishment, the applicant has met with appropriate village staff and plansto upgrade the interior décor, add a customer bar and possible private banquet room. The Village Manager discussed at length with Messrs. Kautzthe Village’s particular sensitivity to the saleof alcohol to minors and over service to clearly intoxicated individuals. The Village Manager also indicated that the applicants were responsible for the actions of all employees and managers. Mr. Janoniscovered the Village’sFight Ordinance requirements. Mr. Kautz indicated hehad read the Village’s rules and regulations in this regard and understood all of the Village’s requirements. A completed application along with fees andrequired documents have been submitted. Both Messrs. Kautzhave submitted to fingerprinting and background checks.If the Village Board views this application favorably, an Ordinance creating a new class“F-3” license would need to be adopted with the current“F-1” licensebeing deleted upon completion of the sale.
