MountProspectislocatedabout20 milesnorthwestofdowntownChicagoandjustnorthoftheChicago O'HareInternationalAirport. TheVillagehasapopulationofapproximately54,000.Whileknownasa middleclasssuburbanresidentialcommunity,theVillagehasasubstantialretailbusinessbaseandis hometoseveralmajorcorporateofficesincludingBoschTools,CaremarkRx,Metlife,Cummins-Allison, Rauland-BorgandSiemensBuildingTechnologies,TheschoolsintheVillage,andinparticulartheHigh Schools,arerankedamongthebestintheStateofIllinois,andtheVillagewasnamedthe"Best CommunitytoRaiseaFamily"inthenationbyUSNewsandWorldReport in2010.MountProspectisa vibrant,activecommunitywithanattractivelocation,strongbusinessandeducationalinfrastructure andaninvolvedcitizenry. In2017theVillagewillbecelebrating its lOOth anniversary.Theareawassettledinthelate1840'sby familieslargelyfromtheHameln-PyrmontDistrict.TheBusses,Rohlwings,Pfingstens,Zersens,Willes andKirchoffswereamongtheearlysettlersandfarmersintheregionnorthwestofChicagoandmany camefromthesmallvillagesoutsideofHameln.Thesefamiliesweretheleadersfirstinfarming thesoil andthenbuildingthechurches, schools,businessandtownsthatpopulateourareatoday.Thevillages includeArlingtonHeights,Schaumburg,Palatine,ElkGroveandMountProspect.There isclearlyadeep historicalandculturallinkbetweenourtwocommunitieswhichmakesitnaturalforustoreachoutto I youwhenexploringaSisterCityTwinrelationship.
