SEC Minutes 06/07/2014Mount Prospect Special Events Commission Minutes of June 7, 2014 Mount Prospect Village Hall Roll Call Vicki Busse, Sandy DiCaro, Maura Drew, Jill Friedrichs, Christina Greco, Linda Hoefert, Kathy Janonis, Mike Janonis, Paul Seils, Fred Steinmiller, Liz Stone, Teresa VanOpdorp and Tarina Wimmer Absent Guest Christine Capra, River Trails Park District Call to Order 9:01 a.m.. Secretary's Report Motion to approve Minutes of April 5, 2014 made by Kathy Janonis, seconded by Christina Greco. No discussion held. Motion approved unanimously. Going through past minutes Nell Pietrzyk, Administrative Generalist for the Village of Mount Prospect noticed minutes from two meetings were never approved. So as a matter of general housekeeping review of minutes has taken place and the results are as follows: - Motion to approve Minutes of August 3, 2013 made by Sandy DiCaro, seconded by Liz Stone. No further discussion was held. Motion approved unanimously. - Motion to approve Minutes of October 5, 2013 made by Fred Steinmiller, seconded by Tarina Wimmer. No further discussion held. Motion approved unanimously. Citizens to Be Heard No comment made by our guest. Financial Report Motion to accept as presented made by Jill Friedrichs, seconded by Linda Hoefert. No discussion held. Motion approved unanimously. Motion to make a $50. donation to the Mount Prospect Public Library in memory of Jeff Bruner (husband of past SEC member Dale Draznin) made by Fred Steinmiller, seconded by Paul Seils. No discussion held. Motion approved unanimously. 4 th of July Parade Mike Janonis will be contacted the Superintendant of School District 214 regarding fee for Prospect High School Marching Blue Knights, fee will remain at $2,000. To date applications have been received from 35 groups wanting to participate. There are twelve groups that entertain in some fashion (cheer, music, shopping carts). Not all those units charge but those that do will cost $9,980. More entertaining units are anticipated. Liz, Tarina and Linda have agreed to help on the 4 th and will meet out front of Mrs. P & Me at 12:30 for assignments. Do It Yourself Sousa The event is scheduled for June 30 and members of SEC are asked to be at Lions Park bandshell at 6:30 to pass out flags and assist with programs if needed. Christina will work out final arrangements and contact members with information. Family Bike Ride Date of the event will be August 16 This year the give -away will be drawstring bags which will cost approximately $1 a piece and it is planned to order 1,000. Advertising spaces will be available on the bags and sponsors are needed, it is hoped that $1,200 will be raised from the sponsorships. Contact Fresh Tyme for snacks of apples and bananas. Liz and Vicki will be at the Farmers Market on Sunday, August 3' Ask Officer Friendly to mark out the route — if he /they won't do it Teresa, Christina and Jill will mark out (with some assistance from Jack and Mr. Miller). Other Business Venue Commission members visited Bristol Palace and Old Orchard. At this point the commission will wait to see if Victoria in the Park will be a viable venue. We will have a definite answer from Avery within the next few months. The problem is with the building not the banquet company. Public Works Luncheon The luncheon was great and employees were very appreciative of the gesture. Centennial Commission Linda Hoefert is the liaison between the Centennial Commission and the Special Events Commison.
