HomeMy WebLinkAbout4. CWC Minutes 04/12/2014 MINUTES VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT COFFEE WITH COUNCIL SATURDAY, APRIL 12, 2014 9:00 AM Community Room, Village Hall Meeting convened at 9:00 AM. Those present: Mayor Juracek, Trustee Steven Polit, Trustee Mike Zadel, Village Manager Mike Janonis and Fire Chief John Malcolm. Residents in Attendance: Thomas Tezky N. Mal Holec had concerns with speeders in his neighborhood and briefly commented on the speed humps that were discussed at the last Board meeting. Mr. Holec also asked about the Journal specific direction. The Mayor informed Mr. Holec that this is our overriding goals and principles that provide direction for staff and future developers. Walter Szymczak/Pat Szymczak had nothing to report. Louis Goodman asked when the code was changed for lot line setbacks, and he was informed it the past. Also, Mr. and his neighbors. Mr. Goodman expressed concern with the recent raise given to the Village received a raise for a couple of years and the raise was warranted based on performance. 1 Jerry Boldt asked if Public Works was doing electronics recycling and he was informed they were. Information is in the newsletter and on the website. Mr. Boldt asked if Public Works could check the intersection at Elm and Isabella, and clean the gravel in the intersection. Also, he asked if the Police Department could follow up on the cars blocking the sidewalk at 223 N. Maple. Ken Koeppen raised concerns about the snow plow drivers when they are going down the road to watch for pedestrians walking on the sidewalk. Jim Chylik has concerns with the traffic light at Northwest Highway and Main Street, specifically the left turn signal to go south on Main Street is too short. Also, Mr. Chylik asked if Public Works could check the pot holes in the center line of Locust Lane. Jan Kent asked about the status of the Lynn Court annexation. The Mayor advised her that staff is still in discussion with the parties involved in the annexation and that they were making progress. We recently had a Cook County Commissioner out to discuss this issue. Judy Czurylo asked if Public Works could check the two inlets coming into Lake Briarwood to make sure they are clear from debris and pump out if necessary. Also, she would like the hole by the storm sewer on Briarwood checked as soon as possible. Purvez Saeed from Sitka Lane has concerns with the catch basins in front of his home during heavy rains. These basins overflow and cause water backup in his garage and lower level of his home. The Mayor informed him the Village had a recent study done and it would cost an estimated $200 million to upgrade all storm sewers. Staff provided him with some options to minimize some of the water damage that occurs during heavy rains, but a permanent fix will need to be discussed. Also, Mr. Saeed had concern with a property maintenance issue at 1828 Sitka Lane and asked if staff could follow up on this. Lastly, he questioned the refuse fee increase and the Mayor and Trustees explained the reason for the increase to those present. Robert Holubek had the same concerns as Mr. Saeed and also lives on Sitka Lane. Mr. Walkowiak had nothing to report. Carol Tortorello discussion took place regarding grocery stores in the downtown area. Tom Manion informed staff that the light in the alley behind his home goes on and off all night. This appears to be a ComEd issue that will need to be resolved by them. Mr. Manion also had concerns with the intersection of Prospect and Mount Prospect Road, specifically with the traffic going north on Mount Prospect Road. He was wondering if a sign could be add nd Mr. Iversen mentioned the library had a kiosk on the 2 floor that could be used to identify traffic concerns in the county. Mr. Iversen asked if bubble wrap envelopes could be recycled and he was informed it must be separated from the envelope first. Mr. Iversen asked about the farmers market and whether all vendors were actual farmers, and he was informed all but one 2 were. Lastly, he asked about repairing a crack in his sidewalk after this winter. He was also provided information regarding the sidewalk replacement plan offered by the Village.
