Northwest Highway Mount Prospect, Illinois 60056 BOARD OF FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSIONERS MINUTES December 9, 2013 Public Safety Building Fire Department Conference Room Chairman Busse called the meeting to order at 5:36 p.m. Roll Call: George Busse, Chairman Charles Bennett, Commissioner Mark Busse, Commissioner James Powers, Commissioner Michaele Skowron, Commissioner Also Present: John Malcolm, Fire Chief Michael Semkiu, Chief of Police Timothy Janowick, Deputy Chief of Police Michael Eterno, Operations Commander APPROVAL OF MINUTES Chairman Busse asked for a motion to approve the following Open Session minutes: November 18. 2013 Phone 647/670 -5656 A motion was made by Commissioner Bennett and seconded by Commissioner Skowron to approve the minutes. Voice Vote: Ayes: G. Busse, Bennett, M. Busse, Powers, Skowron Nays: None Motion Carried November 19, 2013 A motion was made by Commissioner Skowron and seconded by Commissioner M. Busse to approve the minutes. Voice Vote: Ayes: M. Busse, Powers, Skowron Nays: None Abstain: G. Busse, Bennett Motion Carried November 20, 2013 A motion was made by Commissioner Powers and seconded by Commissioner M. Busse to approve the minutes. Voice Vote: Ayes: M. Busse, Powers, Skowron Nays: None Abstain: G. Busse, Bennett Motion Carried CITIZENS TO BE HEARD No one in attendance. POLICE DEPARTMENT UPDATE Chief Semkiu advised the Board that Deputy Chief Janowick and Commander Eterno were in attendance to provide their insight of the new oral interview process and he informed the Board the police officer eligibility list has been posted on the website. The Chief also provided some information on excellent police work by our officers. FIRE DEPARTMENT UPDATE Chief Malcolm reported on staffing and provided an update on the status of the Lieutenants test. BOFPC Minutes 12/9/13 Page 1 CLOSED SESSION A motion was made by Commissioner Skowron and seconded by Commissioner Bennett to go into Closed Session at 5:42 p.m. to approve closed session minutes under Personnel 5 ILCS 120/2 (c) (1) - The appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the public body, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee to determine its validity and to review the oral interview process. Roll Call: Ayes: G. Busse, Bennett, M. Busse, Powers, Skowron Nays: None Motion Carried The Board returned to open session at 6:45 p.m. with everyone present from the previous session. Chairman Busse asked for motions to accept the Preliminary and Final Promotional Lists for Fire Lieutenant. A motion was made by Commissioner Skowron and seconded by Commissioner Bennett to adopt the Preliminary Promotional List for Fire Lieutenant. Voice Vote: Ayes: G. Busse, Bennett, M. Busse, Powers, Skowron Nays: None Motion Carried A motion was made by Commissioner Skowron and seconded by Commissioner Bennett to adopt the Final Promotional List for Fire Lieutenant anticipating some candidates may take advantage of their veteran preference points. Voice Vote: Ayes: G. Busse, Bennett, M. Busse, Powers, Skowron Nays: None Motion Carried OTHER BUSSINES The next meeting will be held on January 6, 2014 at 5:30 p.m. Chairman Busse anticipates giving the annual report before the Village Board sometime in February. Commissioner Skowron reminded the Board about the Celestial Celebration on February 7`" and if interested in attending, please contact Diane Rhode. With no further business, a motion was made by Commissioner Bennett and seconded by Commissioner Powers to adjourn the meeting at 6:56 p.m. Voice Vote: Ayes: G. Busse, Benhett, M.
