JANUARY 14, 2014
I. CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Mayor Arlene Juracek at the
Emergency Operations Center 1730 W. Central Road Mount Prospect, IL. Trustees
present included Trustees Paul Hoefert, John Korn, John Matuszak, Steven Polit,
Richard Rogers and Michael Zadel. Staff present included Village Manager Michael
Janonis, Assistant Village Manager David Strahl and Administrative Intern Alex
Bertolucci.
II. VILLAGE BOARD STRATEGIC PLANNING
Mayor Juracek introduced the discussion topic for the evening of strategic planning.
She is looking forward to a robust discussion leading to a plan that can be
implemented for staff direction and performance measurement. She introduced the
facilitator for the evening Lynn Montei, Montei Associates.
Ms. Montei stated that strategic planning discussion should provide a baseline for a
three to five year horizon focusing on forward- looking plans that will create and name
a vision to lead toward preferred outcomes. She stated the process will include
defining stakeholder inventories and defining who we serve; as them being citizens,
nonparticipating citizens, families, senior citizens, etc. She also asked of the village
board to define whose support do we need and who is impacted by the work we do.
There was extensive discussion over the next three hours on complexities of
municipal service delivery, village board and staff relations and numerous other topics
as it relates to strategic planning.
III. ADJOURNMENT
Meeting adjourned at 9:53 p.m,.
