Representing staff was Assistant Village Manager David Strahl and Finance Director David Erb. John Elenberger Redwood Drive Ken Koeppen Linneman Road Walter Szymczak Eastwood Jim Chylik Locust Lane Richard Rogers Laurel Carol Tortorello Elmhurst Avenue Ken Greenfield See Gwun Avenue Craig Iverson Wille Street Dave Schein Na Wa Ta Mal Holec Quince Lane John Elenberger, Redwood Drive – Mr. Elenberger asked about removal of some of the speed bumps on See Gwun. Staff explained the speed bumps were removed to allow for water/sewer work to be completed in the area. The Village will consider the traffic calming devices in the Spring. Mr. Elenberger also was concerned about the lack of signage at the pond near Huntington Courts. It was explained that the pond is considered private property and signage was the responsibility of the homeowners association. Mr. Elenberger also wanted to thank PW for their snow removal efforts during the recent storm. Ken Koeppen, Linneman Road – Mr. Koeppen did not have anything to bring to the group and was only in attendance to observe. Walter Szymczak, Eastwood – Mr. Szymczak did not have anything to bring to the group and was only in attendance to observe. Jim Chylik, Locust – Mr. Chylik asked about the village-wide call notifying residents of the delay in garbage collection. He wanted to know why he needed to press “1” to hear message. There was a concern that the message would not be delivered if the call went to voicemail. Staff would review how the current call-out is delivered and determine whether other options are available or whether there are message sending options. General discussion followed. Richard Rogers, Laurel – Mr. Rogers shared with the group the need for residents to clear snow from around the storm sewer after significant storm events. He also mentioned it would be beneficial to shovel around fire hydrants. During discussion of this item the question came up as to where residents can go to get hydrant markers? Staff would follow up on this item. Carol Tortorello, Elmhurst Avenue – Ms. Tortorello did not have anything to bring to the group and was only in attendance to observe. Ken Greenfield, See Gwun – Mr. Greenfield wanted to thank PW for snow removal. He inquired as to the time limit for leaving holiday decorations up. Staff informed Mr. Greenfield that a homeowner had 60 days after the holiday to remove decorations. Craig Iverson, Wille Street – Mr. Iverson did not have anything to bring to the group and was only in attendance to observe. Dave Schein, Na Wa Ta – Mr. Schein wanted to inform staff that homes along the 600 block of See Gwun were blowing snow into street causing a safety hazard. He wanted to thank PW for clearing around bike rack at the train station. Mr. Schein asked about permit parking planned for the train station and the number of spaces that were planned to be sold. Of the 600+ spaces only 300 permits would be sold initially. A final question came regarding the status of Starbucks and Subway relocating to the Emerson Lofts & Shops. Staff informed the group that the interior build out was currently taking place and occupancy could be expected in the next 60-90 days. General discussion followed. Mal Holec, Quince Lane – Mr. Holec asked about the recent refuse collection fee increase that was effective January 1, 2014. Staff informed Mr. Holec that the increase was part of a larger capital improvement plan and a desire to move the refuse collection program into a strictly fee based program. Currently, the refuse program is subsidized with a property tax. Staff responded to related questions and general discussion followed. Mayor Juracek asked if there was any further business for the good of the Village. Hearing none the meeting was adjourned at 10:40 a.m. Respectfully Submitted, David O.
