Zadel MINUTES ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION Executive Conference Room, Village Hall Thursday, June 20, 2013 8:00 a.m. The meeting of the Economic Development Commission (EDC) of the Village of Mount Prospect was th held on Thursday, June 20 in the third floor Executive Conference Room in the Village Hall, 50 South Emerson Street, Mount Prospect, Illinois. CALL TO ORDER Chairman David Lindgren called the meeting to order at 8:00 a.m. Commissioners John Healy and Dan Novak were present. Also present were Mayor Arlene Juracek, Bill Cooney, Director of Community Development, Brian Simmons, Deputy Director of Community Development, Nellie Beckner, Long Range Planner, Marianthi Thanopoulos, Public Information Officer and Dawn Fletcher-Collins, Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce. APPROVAL OF MINUTES The minutes of the March 21, 2013 meeting were reviewed and approved unanimously. CITIZENS TO BE HEARD No comments. OLD BUSINESS Development Update Mr. Cooney provided a brief update on various developments throughout the Village. Mr. Cooney provided an update on Randhurst Village, Mount Prospect Plaza and several other commercial developments occurring throughout the Village. The Downtown Plan Status Mr. Cooney stated that the Village will hold a public meeting in July to provide residents and business owners an opportunity to provide input on several matters related to the downtown. He stated that the previous two public meetings were well attended and that he expected another large turnout in July. The focus of the July meeting will be on pedestrian improvements and marketing suggestions for downtown businesses. Page 1of 2 6/20/13 EDC Minutes NEW BUSINESS Discussion of EDC Mission with Mayor Juracek Mayor Juracek stated that she was attending meetings with each of the Boards and Commissions in the Village to let them know that she appreciates and supports their efforts. She added that she does not intend to regularly attend EDC meetings but that she reads the meeting minutes to keep up on their activities and will attend future meetings on an as-needed basis. She added that she is particularly interested in the business visits and will participate on occasion. She thanked the EDC for their past efforts and looked forward to working with them on matters affecting the business community. I- Mr. Cooney stated that Ms. Beckner would provide an overview of 2 regional roadway projects that will have a direct impact on the Village. Ms. Beckner distributed handouts depicting roadway modifications -90 projects that will be taking place over the next decade. She provided an overview of each project and answered questions regarding same. Detailed discussion took place regarding the proposed divergent diamond intersection design at I-90 and Elmhurst Road. Ms. Beckner outlined the Vill surrounding communities of Elk Grove and Des Plaines. No comments.
