HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes 11-89 04/05/1989 RESOLUTION NO. 11 -Hc) A RESOLUTION DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE GENERAL ELECTION OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT HELD APRIL 4, 1989 WHEREAS, the Consolidated General Election was held in and for the Village of Mount Prospect, Cook County, Illinois, on Tuesday, April 4, 1989, for the purpose of electing one (1) Village President (4 year term), three (3) Village Trustees (4 year terms), and two (2) Library Trustees (6 year terms); and WHEREAS, the following referendum question was presented to the electors of the Village of Mount Prospect "Shall the Village of Mount Prospect impose a surcharge of up to seventy-five (75) cents per month per network connection on telecommunications carriers, which surcharge expense will be added to the monthly bill you receive for telephone or telecommunications charges, for the purpose of installing 9-1-1 Emergency Telephone System?"; and WHEREAS, the local Canvassing Board has conducted the official canvass and presented the results; and WHEREAS, the Mayor and Board of Trustees of the Village of Mount Prospect do hereby declare the results of the April 4, 1989 election for said Village. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: SECTION ONE: That pursuant to the Consolidated Election Laws of the State of Illinois, a regular election was held for the Village of Mount Prospect, Tuesday, April 4, 1989. SECTION TWO: That an official canvas was conducted by the Local Canvassing Board for the Village of Mount Prospect declaring 9,025 ballots were cast as follows: Villaqe President - 1 position, 4 year term Irvana Keagy wilks Gerald L. "Skip" Farley 3,593 5,029 Villaqe Trustee - 3 positions, 4 year terms George A. Clowes Ralph W. Arthur Paul Hoefert Timothy J. Corcoran, Jr. Mark W.. Busse Leo Floros Adelaide A. Thulin 1,963 3,378 3,146 4,334 4,682 4,153 1,676 Library Trustee - 2 positions, 6 year terms Jewell A. Kern Cheryl A. Quinn 5,297 6,835 Referendum Question - 9-1-1 Surcharge Yes No 6,410 1,548 SECTION THREE: That inasmuch as Gerald L. "Skip" Farley received the greatest number of votes, he is hereby declared elected r\ ; , Canvass Resolution Page 2 of 2 to the Office of Village President of the Village of Mount Prospect for a four (4) year term, commencing May 2, 1989. B) That inasmuch as Mark W. Busse, Timothy J. Corcoran, Jr. and Leo Floros received the greatest number of votes, they and each of them are hereby declared elected to the Office of Village Trustee of the Village of Mount Prospect for four (4) year terms. C) That inasmuch as the Referendum Question pertaining to 9-1-1 surcharge received greatest number of votes affirmative votes, it is declared that this Question is passed. D) That inasmuch as Jewell A. Kern and Cheryl A. Quinn received the greatest number of votes, they and each of them are hereby declared elected to the Office of Library Trustee of the Village of Mount Prospect. SECTION FOUR: That the Village Clerk is hereby directed to forward a certified copy of this Resolution to the Cook County Clerk Election Department and the state Board of Election Commissioners, as provided by law. SECTION FIVE: That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval in the manner provided by law.
