P R O C L A M A T I O N
NOVEMBER 5-11, 2013
WHEREAS, education is the process by which one generation passes on to the next
learning itself; and
WHEREAS,
future; and
WHEREAS, in the study of foreign languages people have an immediate bridge to international
understanding and cooperation; and
WHEREAS, the study of the French language by generations of American youth has fostered
greater understanding and an appreciation for the people and cultures of France and the
French-speaking world; and
WHEREAS, this study will continue to bridge the miles that separate the students of the United
States with those regions of the French-speaking world; and
WHEREAS, since 2000, the Village of Mount Prospect has enjoyed a Sister City relationship
with Sèvres, France, a relationship strengthened by an enhanced understanding of each
others culture; and
WHEREAS, the Village of Mount Prospect and Sèvres continue a vibrant cultural exchange of
community members and dignitaries; in the fall of 2013 the Village of Mount Prospect, the Sister
Cities Commission and host families welcomed Mayor Francois Kosciusko-Morizet, his wife
Benedicte and twelve (12) additional guests from Sèvres.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Arlene A. Juracek, Mayor of the Village of Mount Prospect, do hereby
proclaim the week of November 5-11, 2013 as
in the Village of Mount Prospect, and I urge all residents to express their appreciation to those
