MINUTES
July 1, 2013

Chairman Busse called the meeting to order at 5:34 p.m.
Roll Call: George Busse, Chairman
Charles Bennett, Commissioner
Mark Busse, Commissioner
James Powers, Commissioner
Michaele Skowron, Commissioner
Also Present: Michael Semkiu, Chief of Police
John Malcolm, Fire Chief
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Chairman Busse asked for a motion to approve the minutes of the May 6, 2013, Open Meeting.

A motion was made by Commissioner Skowron and seconded by Commissioner Bennett to approve the
minutes.
Voice Vote: Ayes: G. Busse, Bennett, M. Busse, Powers, Skowron Nays: None Abstain: Motion Carried
CITIZENS TO BE HEARD
No one in attendance.
FIRE DEPARTMENT UPDATE
Chief Malcolm emailed the Board information regarding candidate, Lukasz Misiejuk, and is requesting the
Board's formal approval to hire. If approved tonight, the Oath of Office will be administered on Monday,
July 8 th at 4:00 p.m. Commissioner Skowron will administer the oath of office and Commissioner Bennett
will also attend.
A motion was made by Commissioner Skowron and seconded by Commissioner Bennett to concur with
the Fire Chiefs recommendation to hire Lukasz Misiejuk.
Voice Vote: Ayes: G. Busse, Bennett, M. Busse, Powers, Skowron Nays: None Abstain: Motion Carried
POLICE DEPARTMENT UPDATE
Chief Semkiu provided an update on the probationary officers' status and reported Officer Witkowska
graduated from the academy and is doing well. Chief Semkiu also reviewed the upcoming recruit testing
dates and times with the Board. The Orientation will be held on July 31 at 6:00 p.m. and Commissioner
Skowron will represent the Board of Fire & Police Commissioners and speak to the group. The written
test is scheduled for August 1, 2013, at 8:00 a.m.
CLOSED SESSION
A motion was made by Commissioner Bennett and seconded by Commissioner M. Busse to go into
Closed Session under personnel 5 ILCS 120/2 (c)(1) at 5:47 p.m. to approve closed session minutes and
discuss drafting revised oral interview questions for recruit testing with consultants from 1/0 Solutions.

The Board returned to open session at 7:08 p.m. with everyone present from the previous session except
Chief Malcolm.
OTHER BUSSINESS
The next meeting will be held on August 5 th at 5:30 p.m.
With no further business, a motion was made by Commissioner Bennett and seconded by Commissioner
M. Busse to adjourn the meeting at 7:09 p.m.
