Juracek Mayor ATTEST: ______________________________ M. Lisa Angell Village Clerk st Dated this 21 day of May, 2013. May 3, 2013 Village of Mount Prospect, Illinois To whom it may concern, Established in 1938 as the National Arborist Association, today's Tree Care Industry Association (TCIA) is a trade association of more than 2,200 commercial tree care firms and affiliated companies. Our mission is to advance tree care businesses. The "Advancing Arboriculture Award" was created as a partner to the "Legislator of the Year Award" to provide TCIA with another avenue to recognize support for our issues beyond an award from our political action committee. The Advancing Arboriculture Award is another mechanism for TCIA to say "thank you" to governmental agencies, regulators and other allies. The award is given to a governmental agency, institution or green industry partner, that has worked to advance legislation, regulation or practices favorable to the tree care industry. This year's winner of the "Advancing Arboriculture Award" is Sandra Clark of the Village of Mount Prospect, Illinois. She initiated the first innovative tree risk management program to increase public safety while still preserving as many older trees as possible. She directed an intensive tree disease /insect control effort, drastically reducing the annual elm loss rate. Mount Prospect's bid documents for tree maintenance are very thorough. They focus on professionalism, including TCIA Accreditation. Many municipal foresters follow her lead when writing these documents. As Forester, she manages nearly 25,000 street trees and 42 acres of public grounds. Sandra is a longtime member of the ISA, a certified arborist since 1990 and municipal specialist since 2008. She is an asset to her community, state and to the tree care industry for her many years of dedicated service. Forester... mentor ... leader ... creator... researcher... defender of trees for more than 30 years. Sandra Clark represents a worthy recipient of TCIA's Advancing Arboriculture Award. TCIA is pleased to present this award to her for a job well done.
