Minutes from the French visit Sub Committee 2013
Visit dates 9/14- 9/19/2013

I. Call to order by Paula Randant- the meeting was called to order at 5:35 PM.
II. Attendees: Skip and Janice Farley, Patricia Fusilero, Paula Randant, John and Mary Ann Sibrava, Steve and
Barbara Van Arsdale, Denise Rano , Judy Thorne, Diana Sahakian.
III. Citizens to be heard: no citizens asked to be heard.
IV. Review of policy- no current concerns
V. Discussion of tasks and Assignment of tasks
a. Fund raising to be discussed further after estimates of event costs are available. We have $15,000+ funds
available and $5,000. Promised from the village.
b. Housing: Judy Thorne will work on housing and was given a preliminary list of visitors.
C. Event ideas: Sunday- French Farmers market with a meet and greet in the coffee area.
Followed by a picnic either at Lions Park band shell area or in front of Village Hall, John Sibrava will work on
arrangements to include games, and western line dancing. Denise Rano has Western line dancing connection
and will pursue.
Monday- Tuesday and Wednesday: proposed events Tour of Bosch -Paula to investigate and report back,
Visit to Paddock Publications- Janice F to investigate and report back,
Randhurst with possible dinner in bar area at Blackfin — asking Irvana Wilks and John Korn to look into this.
Trip to Chicago on the train and water taxi and probably the Windella and lunch at the 95 at the Hancock
building with some free shopping time after lunch -Gary R to investigate.
Visit to Lincoln Middle school Tricia F to follow -up.
Possible visit to Villas of Sevres- Skip to investigate.
Library event open to the public- reception type Mary Ann Sibrava to investigate.
d. Welcome on Saturday 9/14 not settled need arrival times, departure on 9/19 not settled need flight times
to plan.
e. Miscellaneous: Gifts- Janice F will work on gifts , she already has some ideas
Dinner meals some of the meals will fall into place with events put into place.
Meals with host families. (Breakfast and at least one dinner)
Denise Rano will assist with translation of materials, Judy and Denise will work on Welcome Packets. Village
Public Affairs person usually helps with materials, maps etc.
French Market who is chairing so we can work with that person on how to integrate French Visitors. Note
we can use more help when preliminaries are figured out.
