Minutes from French Visit 2013 Planning Committee
June 14, 2012
L Paula Randant presided over the meeting beginning at 5:35 p.m.
11. The committee members for the 2013 French Visit Planning Committee
and present at the meeting were: Paula Randant, Dorothy Kucera, Lorrie
Huber, Patricia Fusilero, Judy Thorne, Rachel Toepeen, MaryAnn Sibrava
and Michael Davies, as the Mt. Prospect Business representative.
111. Michael Davies was the first to be heard, asking about the mission statement
of The Sister City Organization. Paula went over the latest statement and
added that it is being revised
IV. Everyone in attendance felt that the past visits all went smoothly
and could not think of specific improvements.
V. a) $5,000 was the amount that was given for a fiind raising goal for the 2013
Visit.
b) Judy volunteered to take care of the housing arrangements, as she has
done in the past very successfully.
c) Mayor Wilks will be in communication with Sevres regarding the visit
and a time frame.
d) She will request what they would like to see this visit.
e) Some of the previous events we had were discussed as possibilities again.
The group felt the banquet open to the public as well as the library event open
to the public were successful and should be considered again.
f) Some new ideas that were brought up;
• Paula mentioned a presentation
(Video) showing some of the similarities of our businesses. Bosch
was suggested because they have plants in France also.
• A race track tour was suggested.
• Train to the city and water taxis to the Hancock for lunch were
mentioned.
• A history professor explaining US government at the Lake Forest
College Campus was suggested.
• Michael Davies wanted to know as chairman of the Chamber of
Commerce representative, to what degree should the business of Mt.
Prospect be involved.
• The final discussions concerned involving businesses, perhaps by
sponsorship of events as well as tours of some of the businesses.
VI. Dorothy will contact Rolan of Sevres, regarding who should be the main
Sevres contact regarding the trip in light of Mayor Kosciusko
family's tragic loss of their son.
V 11. The next meeting for the Planning Committee was scheduled for Oct. 18
VIII. Discussion concluded.
