Minutes: July 19, 2012
Attendees: Paula Randant, Judy Thorne, John Korn, Skip & Janice Farley, Rachel Toeppen,
Tricia Fusilero, Dorothy Kucera, John Sibrava, Gary Randant, Barbara Vanleesdale, Irvana
Wilks, Maura El Metennani, Paul Seils, Diana Sahakian, Lorrie Huber, Mary Ann Sibrava,
Not Attending: Ed Juracek
L The meeting was called to order by Dorothy at 5:40 PM.
II. The minutes of the previous meeting were discussed and one spelling error was
corrected and then minutes were approved.
III. Citizens to be heard: none
IV. Treasurer's Report: Skip Farley reviewed the report and it is attached to the minutes.
V. Mayor's Remarks: Mayor Irvana Wilks was out of town
VI. Chair Remarks: Dorothy Kucera
Dorothy welcomed our new member Diana Sahakian the owner of Stay Fit Physical therapy.
Dorothy also asked for a moment of silence for Etienne the son of Francois and Benedicte
Kosciusko - Morizet. Dorothy also shared that the September 20 meeting would be a special
meeting to discuss the Sister City ordinance and then a closed meeting. Commission members
are asked to review the current ordinance prior to the meeting.
VII. Reports
a. French film project: Ed Juracek -Ed did not attend the meeting. There was some
discussion of prices for films and scheduling but issues cannot be addressed until Ed is
available.
b. Library program July 14 Mary Ann Sibrava reported that 65 people attended. Rose
Nadalski gave a great performance the cost was shared between the Library and Sister
Cities. Mary Ann will also be doing story time at the French Market. A report from
Mary Ann is attached.
c. Wine and Cheese Tasting: Lorrie Huber - Lorrie reported that the event would be
November 8, 2012. It is planned at Stay Fit the business of new member Diana
Sahakian. Several people are following up.
d. 4 th of July Parade: Gary Randant- The parade went well. It was very hot. Gary and
Paula and Trisha and her children walked in the parade. We had a decorated small trick
and carried banners. Gary and Paula are keeping the banners to be available for other
events.
e. MPSC Inventory: Gary Randant, Dorothy and Maura helped complete the inventory
and Gary typed it up on a spread sheet. It can be updated.
f. French Market /September 9 th : Maura El Metennani and Dorothy Kucera —Maura noted
that vendors had been invited and they were trying to find additional vendors. Several
members noted they would contact possible vendors.
g. Sevres Delegation 2013 visit: Paula Randant- Paula shared that a planning committee
meeting was held on June 14 8 committee members attended. Minutes for that
meeting are available. The committee will meet again when more information on visit
date is available.
VIII. Open Discussion
During discussion time it was noted that the French speaking group that formed after the
Pot Luck has been meeting at the Library. Diana has been attending. The purpose of the group
is to give members a place to speak French and update their skills.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:00 PM.
The next meeting will be September 20, 2012 at 5:30 PM in the Village Hall.
