HomeMy WebLinkAboutSEC Minutes 02/08/1997MOUNT PROSPECT SPECIAL EVENTS COMMISSION Minutes Saturday, February 8. 1997, 9:00 a.m. Basement Lunch Room, Village Hall ATTENDING: Elmer Blasco, Steve Durlacher, Leo Floros, Lil Floros, Linda Hoefert, Laura Luteri and Terri Pistone I. Having attained quorum, the meeting was called to order at 9:05 a.m. by Lil Floros, Co- Chairman. II. Minutes of the January 4, 1997 meeting were approved as corrected. Ill. Financial Report - None. A final financial report for the banquet will be available for the next meeting. IV. Celestial Celebration IV The chairman enthusiastically thanked everyone for all their hard work and complimented everyone on how smoothly the event came together. The consensus was that the Banquet was a spectacular success. Thank you notes from Bill Blaine, Mary and Jim Barrett, Melanie and Mike Karsen, Lu Leschyk, and Florence Smith were read. It was tentatively agreed that the Banquet committee should contact the band and the woman who produced the balloon decor and make sure that they are available for February 1998. There will be a Banquet Committee meeting before the next Commission meeting to discuss details for the Celestial Celebration V. Several constructive suggestions concerning the lighting, amplification and volume of the band were made and the committee will discuss them at their meeting. V. Veteran's Memorial - Elmer Blasco reported that the Veteran's Memorial Committee has been seeking grants to help fund the project. Letters appealing for support will be sent home with students from Elementary Districts 59 and 21 during the next month. VII. Welcome to Mount Prospect Event - Lil Floros reported that Mike Janonis has set Sunday, April 20, 1997 at 2 p.m. in the Senior Center as the time and place for the first Welcome to Mount Prospect Event. An intern in his office has been preparing a list of the organizations to be asked to participate and has been identifying the new residents who are to be invited. VII. "Do- It- Yourself" Sousa - Laura Luteri reported that Mike Golemo has again agreed to perform as Sousa for $350. Possible guest soloists are being contacted. There will be a meeting of the Sousa Committee later this month. VIII. Holiday Events Calendar - Lit had no report. Terri Pistone volunteered to help Lil with this project. IX. Parade - No report X. Other Business - none Xl.. Adjourn - No other business being before the Commission, the meeting was adjourned at 10:06 a.m. The next meeting of the Commission will take place on Saturday, March 1, 1997 at 9:00 a.m. in the Trustees Room of the Village Hall.
