October 31, 1998
ATTENDING: Della Baldwin, Dale Draznin, Corky Dunn, Steve Durlacher, Janice Farley, Leo Floros,
Lil Floros, Linda Hoefert, Laura Luteri, Laury Younquist -
1. The meeting was called to order by Lil Floros. Minutes of the October 3, 1998 meeting were
approved.
2. Financial balance October 31: $6,026.08.
3. Veterans Memorial. Steve reported that the Park District has resolved the concerns of the residents
concerning the placement of the band shell. Linda announced that there will be a walk on November 11
from Fairview School to Village Hall in honor of Veteran's Day.
4. Welcome to Mount Prospect. A big thanks to Dale Draznin for organizing a great event. It was
suggested that the hours be changed to 9:00 -10:30 a.m. Also the commission members would like to see
more organizations geared around youth, information on day care, library card accessibility, voter
registration and possibly a business video.
5. Celestial Celebration. Invitations are ready to go out. Plans are moving along very well. The albums
(favors) are here and are being stored at Public Works. The pictures are at the printer.
6. Shining Stars. Laura reported 21 nominations (for 10 people) to date. Deadline is November 13.
7. Sounds of the Season. Ld and Leo met with Randhurst personnel who had a concern for safety with
too many people on risers. Therefore, there will be two concerts:. one at 1:00 p.m. for kids only and the
other at 4:00 p.m. for adults. Dr. Smalley of School District 26 was asked to choose a director for the
children - -Mr. Flowers. Mailings are out to churches and schools.
8. House Decorating Contest. Laury reported that the application form was in the Village newsletter.
9. Octoberfest. Steve reported that a meeting is planned in November to recap this year's event and plan
ahead.
