FARLEY AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES VILLAGE MANAGER AUGUST 14, 2003 REQUEST FOR CLASS R LIQUOR LICENSE TUCCIO'S FRESH ITALIAN KITCHEN, 106 WEST NORTHWEST HIGHWAY On Tuesday, June 17, 2003, the Village Manager met with Mr. Thomas Rose regarding his request for the issuance of a new Class R Liquor License to be utilized in conjunction with the operation of his proposed restaurant at the above location. The Class R designation provides for the serving of alcoholic beverages at dining tables only. Tuccio's Fresh Italian Kitchen will be located in the Clocktower Shopping Center in the former Pickerman's Sandwich Shop location. The restaurant will serve a variety of Italian cuisine including pasta, pizza and sandwiches. The operating format is similar to a Corner Bakery in that food is ordered at the counter but brought to tables by wait staff. A lunch and dinner menu will be offered. The restaurant will be open seven days a week. Outside dining in the central vestibule will be provided, Mr. Rose and his partner, John Messina, would like to offer beer, wine and if the demand is there, a variety of mixed drinks. Both Mr. Rose and Mr. Messina have extensive experience in the restaurant business including employment with Hotel Nikko, Connie's Pizza and Wolfgang Puck. Both are Basset certified. This is Messrs. Rose and Messina's first effort at operating their own restaurant. If they are successful, they hope to franchise the concept in the future. he Village Manager discussed at length with the applicant the Village's particular sensitivities to the sale of alcohol to minors and over service to clearly intoxicated individuals. The Village Manager also indicated that the applicant was responsible for the actions of all employees and managers. Mr. Rose indicated he had read the Village's rules and regulations in this regard and understood all of the Village's requirements. He also stated that Mr. Messina would be the day-to-day Manager of the operation and was also familiar with our regulations. The required application is complete and on file along with the payment of appropriate fees and other documentation. Messrs. Rose and Messina have submitted to the required fingerprinting and background checks. If the Village Board considers this request favorably, adoption of an Ordinance creating a new Class R Liquor License would be appropriate. MEJ/rcc ORDINANCE NO. AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 13 OF THE VILLAGE CODE OF MOUNT PROSPECT BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: SECTtON O N E: That in accordance with Subsection A of Section 13.108 of Chapter 13 of the Village Code of Mount Prospect, as amended, the Corporate Authorities shall determine the number of Liquor Licenses available in each Classification and shall establish a list specifying the number of Liquor Licenses authorized. Said list is hereby amended by increasing the number of Class R LiquOr LiCenses bY On~ (1) Tuccio's Fresh Italian Kitchen, 106 West Northwest Highway. FARLEY AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES VILLAGE MANAGER AUGUST 15, 2003 CHANGE OF OWNERSHIP BRISTOL COURT BANQUETS, 828 EAST RAND ROAD CLASS E, CATERER'S LICENSE On Friday, August 15, the Village Manager met with partners David Weiner and Gary DiTomassi regarding their request to assume ownership of Bristol Court Banquets and continue operation under the existing Class E Liquor License. The Class E License provides for catering both on and off site. In addition to operating the banquet facility, Messrs. Weiner and DiTomassi plan to consolidate at this location their full-service catering operation known as Legendary Catering. Legendary currently operates out of a facility in Wauconda. The catering business has an extensive book of business. Messrs. Weiner and DiTomassi will purchase the Bristol Court business and have an option to buy the building and adjacent property at some point in the future. The business will continue to operate under the name Bristol Court. Minor kitchen upgrades are anticipated immediately, with more extensive plans for expansion and renovation to come in the future. They would also like to enhance their visibility from Rand Road with an upgraded monument sign. Mr. DiTomassi has 20 years of experience in the catering/banquet business. He is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America and has worked as the banquet chef for the Ritz Carlton in Chicago and has studied under Chef Jean Banchet of LeFrancais in Wheeling. Mr. Weiner has 11 years of experience in the food business including operation of a gourmet food shopping business.
