APPROVAL OF MINUTES DUE TO ATTENDANCE THERE WAS NO QUORUM AND THE MINUTES FROM THE MAY 7, 2003 YOUTH COMMISSION MEETING WERE NOT APPROVED. MOUNT PROSPECT YOUTH COMMISSION MINUTES JUNE 4, 2003 SPECIAL GUEST LARRY BRAUS, MOUNT PROSPECT JAYCEES, REPORTED THEIR BEST ANNUAL MEMORIAL DAY CARNIVAL EVER. THE CARNIVAL WAS VERY SUCCESSFUL WITH $100,000.00 PROFIT BY THE CARNIVAL COMPANY AND $30,000.00 BY THE MOUNT PROSPECT JAYCEES. MR. BRAUS STATED THE MOUNT PROSPECT JAYCEES THEME FOR THE 4TH OF JULY PARADE IS, "MOUNT PROSPECT JAYCEES SUPPORT OUR TOWN'S YOUTH." MR. BRAUS INVITED THE YOUTH COMMISSION TO PARTICIPATE WITH THE JAYCEES AND SUGGESTED THEY ATTEND THEIR NEXT MEETING. OLD BUSINESS LATTOF YMCA TEEN CENTER DISCUSSED THE STATUS OF THE SURVEYS SENT TO LOCAL SCHOOLS. RESULTS TO BE HELD AT THE JULY MEETING. FURTHER DISCUSSION OF NEW BUSINESS YOUTH COMMISSION ANNUAL REPORT YOUTH COMMISSION TO PRESENT THEIR ANNUAL REPORT IN JUNE TO THE VILLAGE BOARD AT THE MOUNT PROSPECT PARK DISTRICT CENTRAL COMMUNITY CENTER, 1000 CENTRAL ROAD. 4TM OF JULY PARADE MEMBERS TO PARTICIPATE WITH THE MOUNT PROSPECT JAYCEES FLOAT. YOUTH COMMISSION TO CONTACT THE SPECIAL EVENTS COMMITTEE REGARDING PARTICIPATION IN THE PARADE. Representing the Village staff was Chief of Police R/chard Eddington and Village Manager Michael Janonis. Dale Avenue Katy & Bert Hanson, 103 Eastwood, came to Coffee with Council to obtain an update on the ongoing situation they have with their neighbor at 104 N. Elmhurst Avenue. The situation involves the painting of cars and other major repair projects on numerous different cars. Village Manager Mike Janonis stated he was aware of the problem and will check with Bob Roels, Environmental Health Coordinator, regarding the status on the situation. Further, Village Attorney Everett Hill will be contacted to see if an injunction option is available as a remedy for this situation. Leo Newhouse, 407 N. Dale, came to Coffee with Council regarding an ongoing problem with student parking fi:om Prospect High School. After a wide-range of discussion with many of the residents fi:om North Dale, Village Manager Mike Janonis committed to expanding the parking restrictions. The parking restrictions will be the same as are currently in use on Fairview, Prospect Manor, Highland and Memory Lane. That is No Parking 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. School Days. Exact locations of parking restrictions to be determined by staff and the matter referred to the Safety Commission. Martha Nelson, 406 N. MacArthnr, provided the attendees at Coffee with Council the response from the school board and the documentation of the information that had been presented to the District 214 School Board. Further, Martha Nelson is requesting clarification on whether or not vehicles will be ticketed for parking on the grass in the Northwest Meadows Subdivision. ewt Hallman, 309 N. Dale. In addition to the student parking issues, he had questions about the home business at 310 Dale. A truck with a logo is often parked in the driveway. Village Manager Mike Janonis committed to follow up on this matter. Ernie & Sue Lassie, 805 S. Elm Street, Dorothy Sissors, 807 S Elm Street, Jerry & Barbara Duever, 806 S. Elm Street, came to Coffee with Council regarding the property maintenance issues at 804 S. Elm Street. They collectively expressed concerns regarding storage of garbage, storage of motorcycles, storage of abandoned and or derelict vehicles and failure to maintain their lawn according to Village code. Village Manager Michael Janouis committed to a review of the situation to determine the current status of the citations that have been issued to 804 S. Elm Street. However, he advised the residents of the slowness of housing court and the sometimes-inappropriate resolution selected by housing court judges. Trustee Skowron suggested that the neighborhood members appear in court to emphasize their concerns regarding the matter. Carol Tortorello, 223 S. Elmhurst Avenue, came to Coffee with Council to inquire as to the tax status of the cultural centers that were moving into town. Her concern was that these parcels of commercial land would be removed from the tax rolls. Dave Schein, 512 Nawata, came to Coffee with Council to express his concern over the Patriot Act and its enforcement by federal and local law enfomement.
