OLD BUSINESS Racism and Diversity Forum Chairman Brennan, Commissioner Tolbert and Mike Stevens, School District #214 Community Education met with Mr. Carillo and Ms. Horan, Diversity II facilitators to formalize the program on Racism and Diversity. Chairman Brennan shared the following information from the meeting: · Community Education School District #214 welcomed the opportunity to be a co-sponsor with the Village for the forum. · The Community Education School District will provide the site; Chairman Brennan recommended Prospect High School. · The forum will be a series of three meetings; September 22nd, October 6th , and October 20th 2003. · The group discussed program structure, materials and community awareness. Chairman Brennan distributed copies of the informational/registration flyer for the fall 2003 Community Education class catalog. Chairman Brennan thanked the Commissioners and stated he had made some of the suggested modifications to the flyer. After reviewing the revised flyer the Commissioners suggested a few additional modifications to the flyer. The staff liaison stated she would make the modifications and e-mail the revised document to the members. Chairman Brennan emphasized that the flyer needed to be submitted to the Community Education office by the first part of next week, The Commission discussed and shared suggestions on how to effectively promote the forum. One suggestion that seemed to have full support was to extend an invitation to all the churches. Chairman Brennan also distributed the Racism and Diversity Forum budget he prepared for submittal to the Village Manager Michael Janonis. As there were no suggested revisions to the budget the Chairman asked the staff liaison to forward the document to Mr. Janonis. NEW BUSINESS There was no new business.
