HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes 24-03 04/15/2003 ESOLUTION NO. 24-03 A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE UNITED STATES ARMED FORCES IN FIGHTING THE WAR ON TERROR AND IN IRAQ WHEREAS, the President of the United States has activated and deployed numerous men and women of the Armed Forces a total force comprised of Active, National Guard and Reserve personnel from the Village of Mount Prospect to assignments and missions related to the ongoing global war on terror and the current crisis in Iraq; and WHEREAS, the uniformed men and women dour community are once again called upon to offer their devotion in the defense of our Country and to bring peace to a troubled corner of the Earth; and WHEREAS, though principled and patriotic Americans can and do disagree about particular policies, we all stand behind those who have been called to serve in the military during the current crisis, and are doing so with great integrity, honor, skill and courage. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Board of Trustees of the Village of Mount Prospect, County of Cook, Illinois as follows: Section One: That the Mayor and Board of Trustees expresses its unfailing support of the men and women now in harm's way who are serving to protect our nation, our way of life and the future security of the United States of America and wishes them a safe and speedy return home. Section Two: That the Mayor and Board of Trustees express their support for the people of Iraq to be liberated from the tyranny of a dictatorship so they may enjoy a free and democratic society and shape their own prosperous future. Section Three: That the Mayor and BOard of Trustees support our troops in bringing the enduring war on terrorism to a successful conclusion wherever it may be fought. Section Four: That the Mayor and Board of Trustees encourage residents to hang yellow ribbons on trees as a sign of support for troops and their families. Section Five: That a certified copy of this Resolution shall be forwarded to President Bush and the members of the U.S. Congressional delegation who represent the Mount Prospect community. Section Six: That this resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval according to law.
