ORDINANCE NO. 3261 /~ AN ORDINANCE AUTNORIZING PARTICIP~I'ION IN THE ILLINOIS FIRE PROTECTION TRAINING ACT WHEREAS, the Village of Mount Prospect is desirous of electing to participate in the programs under the Illinois Fire Protection Training Act, Public Act 77-1665, as amended; and WHEREAS, in order for the Village to be eligible for ini~aial or continued participation in the program, the law requires that before an individual may commence regular employment as a firefighter, he must have been certified by the State Fire Marshal as having successfully completed, an approved Firefighter II training course; and WHEREAS, the Village of Mount Prospect intends to establish its own school or to utilize some other school certified by the State Fire Marshal for the purpose of providing the training required under said Act: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, ILLIONIS: SECTION ONE: The Village of Mount Prospect hereby elects to participate in the programs provided for in the Illinois Fire Protection Training Act. SECTION TWO: Before an individual may commence regular full-time employment as a firefighter, he must have been certified by the Illinois State Fire Marshal as a Fire- fighter II, as having successfully completed an approved training course as provided in said Act. SECTION THREE: The Firefighter II training must be completed by the trainee within his probationary period of twenty four (24) months, except for volunteers, part-time and paid-on-call personnel. SECTION FOUR: If necessary, the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners are hereby instructed and directed to make the necessary amendments to the Personnel Rules, of the Mount Prospect Fire Department, and Rules of said Board of Fire and Police Commissioners in order to require that any person appointed to the Fire Department of the Village of Mount Prospect shall not become a regular member of the Mount Prospect Fire Department unless and until he shall complete, pursuant to said Illinois Fire Protection and Training Act, the approved training course within twenty four (24) months of the date of his initial employment. SECTION FIVE: This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval and publication in pamphlet form in the manner provided by law.
