A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE UNITED STATES ARMED FORCES IN FIGHTING THE
WAR ON TERROR AND IN IRAQ
WHEREAS, the Pres/dent of the Umted States has activated and deployed numerous
men and women of the Armed Forces a total force compnsed of Active, National Guard and
Reserve personnel from the Village of Mount Prospect to assignments and missions related to
the ongoing global war on terror and the current cns/s /n Iraq and
WHEREAS, the uniformed men and women of our community are once again called
upon to offer their devotion/n the defense of our Country and to bnng peace to a troubled corner
of the Earth, and
WHEREAS, though pnnc~pled and patnoflc Amencans can and do disagree about
particular poi/c/es, we all stand behind those who have been called to serve m the m/btary dunng
the current crisis, and are doing so w/th great integrity, honor, skill and courage
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Board of Trustees of the
Wllage of Mount Prospect, County of Cook, Ilhno/s as follows
Sectzon One That they Mayor and Board of Trustees expresses tts unfailing support of
the men and women now In harm's way who are serving to protect our nabon, our way of bfe and
the future secur~ty of the Un,ted States of America and w/shes them a safe and speedy return
home
Secbon Two That the Mayor and Board of Trustees express their support for the people
of Iraq to be hberated from the tyranny of a dictatorship so they may enjoy a free and democratic
society and shape their own prosperous future
Section Three That the Mayor and Board of Trustees support our troops/n bnng/ng the
enduring war on terror/sm to a successful conclusion wherever/t may be fought
Sectton Four That the Mayor and Board of Trustees encourage res/dents to hang
yellow ribbons on trees as a s/gn of support for troops and their farn/lles
Section F~ve That a cerbfied copy of this Resolution shall be forwarded to President
Bush and the members of the U S Congressional delegation who represent the Mount Prospect
community
Sect/on Slx That th/s resolut/on shall be /n full force and effect from and after /ts
passage and approval according to/aw ,
