Elmhurst 999 N. Elmhurst 512 Nawata 412 N. Elmhurst Avenue Carol Tortorello, 223 South Elmhurst, had two issues to bring to the Board's attention. The first was a dog bite situation that had been discussed in a recent Speak Out. Dog bites were discussed at length, with additional concerns being expressed by the Board members. The Police Chief committed to discussing the matter further at the Community Service Officers Meeting on Tuesday the 18th of February. Additionally, Carol Tortorello had questions regarding the Randhurst Shopping Center. Margaret Larmen, General Manager of the shopping center, fielded several questions regarding the ongoing Costco negations and the philosophical position of the new management of the shopping center. When Margaret Lannen had completed her remarks regarding the shopping center, she took the opportunity to comment that last Saturday was her first Celestial Celebration in Mount Prospect and how impressed she was with the celebration and the willingness of the community to put forward its stars to be recognized. She was highly complimentary of the event and looks forward to the next Celestial Celebration. Eric Arndt, 209 N. Elmhurst, came to the meeting to start to marshal support for the Relay For Life. The Relay For Life is April 25-26 and will be held at the Arlington Park Race Track. Members of the Village Board assured Mr. Amdt that there would be a significant presence of Board members and employees due to several incidents involving village officials and employees. Eric Amdt seemed very pleased with the response and will keep the Board and Village informed of progress on Relay For Life. He was invited to speak at several Village Board Meetings prior to the Relay For Life to get the information out to the general public via MPTV. ohn Stroh, 1517 Catalpa Lane, addressed the Board members. He had two concerns. The first being traffic control around Holmes Jr. High School. He stated that the buses, car traffic and pedestrian traffic were not well separated and he was concerned about the safety of the school children coming and going in this environment. A commitment was made to have Officer Bill Roscop and his current partner, Officer Mike Rose, review the situation in a report to the Police Chief. Additionally, John Stroh expressed concern about turning right on red. The specific intersection he is most concerned about is Northwest Highway and Route 83. He felt that it is a bad idea generally, but this is the intersection he is most concerned about. A commitment was made to review the traffic pattern at that intersection. Also, Mr. Stroh volunteered to help with any traffic surveys that would be needed to help the enforcement efforts. David Schein, 512 Nawata, is concerned with the traffic sequence on Route 83 and Northwest Highway. He also asked if the Village Board had adopted an official position regarding park and school district referendums. The response from the gathered elected officials was that they might individually assume positions, but it was beyond the purview of the Board to assume positions regarding other municipal referendum initiatives.
