HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrd 3396 02/07/1984ORDINANCE NO. 3396 AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ARTICLE VI ENTITLED "MINORs'' OF CHAPTER 23 OF THE VILLAGE CODE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, ILLINOIS PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES THE 7th DAY OF February , 1984 Published in pamphlet form by authority of the corporate authorities of the Village of Mount Prospect, Illinois, the 8th day of February , 1984 1 V V 03R ORDINANCE NO. 3396 AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ARTICLE VI ENTITLED "MINORS" OF CHAPTER 23 OF THE VILLAGE CODE OF MOUNT PROSPECT~ ILLINOIS BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE iLLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: SECTION ONE: Article VI entitled "MinOrs'' of Chapter 23 of the .llage Code of Mount Prospect, Illinois (1981) is hereby amended a ~llows: By amending Section 23.601 entitled "Curfew for Minors" to read as follows: "Sec. 23.601 Curfew for Minors. ae It is unlawful for a person less than seventeen (17) years of age to be present at or upon any public assembly, building, place, street or highway at the following times unless accompanied and supervised by parent, legal guardian or other responsible companion at least eighteen (18) years of age, approved by the parent or legal guardian, or unless engaged in a business or.occupation which the laws of this State authorize a person less than seventeen (17) years of age to perform: 1. Between one minute after twelve o'clock (12:01) A.M. and six o'clock (6:00) A.M. Saturday; and 2. Between one minute after twelve o'clock (12:01) A.M. and six o'clock (6:00) Sunday; and Between eleven o'clock (11:00) P.M. on Sunday t¢ Thursday, inclusive, and six o'clock (6:00) A.M. on the following day. Be It is unlawful for a parent, legal guardian or other person to knowingly permit a person in his custody o~ control to violate Section A of this Section." By adding a new Section 23.602 entitled "Sale of Tobacco Products to Minors" to read as follows: "23.602. Sale of Tobacco Products to Minors. It shall be unlawful for any vendor, vending machine operator, tobacco dealer or other person operating a business in this Village where tobacco products are sold, to sell, give or make available to any person less than eighteen (18) years of age, any cigarettes, cigars, or other tobacco products except upon the written order of ar adult known to the vendor, operator or dealer." By adding a new Section 23.603 entitled "Penalty" to read as follows: "Sec. 23.603. Penalty. Any person convicted of a violation of any provision of this Article shall be fined not less than twenty-five ($25.00) dollars nor more than one hundred ($100.00) dollars for each offense." SECTION TWO: This O~dinance shall be in full force and pon its passage, approval, and publication in pamphlet ccordance with law.
