FARLEY AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES VILLAGE MANAGER JULY 9, 2002 MOUNT PROSPECT LIQUORS, 16 NORTH MAIN STREET, CLASS C LIQUOR LICENSE CHANGE IN OWNERSHIP On Monday, July 8, the Village Manager met with Mr. Gordhan Janjrukia, President of UPMA, Inc., to discuss his request for a change of ownership with regard to the existing Liquor License classification for Mount Prospect Liquors, 16 North Main Street (Central Plaza). Mr. Janjrukia and his partners would like to continue operation of the packaged goods store at this location under the same business name (Mount Prospect Liquors). There is currently a Class C Liquor License authorized for Mount Prospect Liquors. The Class C designation provides for the retail sale of package goods. The purchase of the business is contingent upon approval of this License application. . Mr. Janjrukia currently owns and operates two other liquor stores, one in Des Plaines (12 years) and one in Downers Grove (6 years). In 1992, a citation was issued by the Des Plaines Police Department for sale to a minor. That case was subsequently dismissed. The Police Department review finds no other citations or violations regarding the Des Plaines or Downers Grove operations. The Village Manager discussed at length with Mr. Janjrukia the Village's particular sensitivity to the sale of alcoholic beverages to minors as well as over service to intoxicated persons. Mr. Janjrukia indicated that he and his partners understood the requirements of the Village's Liquor Ordinance and will comply with all aspects of same. A completed application is on file along with fees and most required documentation. The applicants have submitted to fingerprinting and background checks. If the Board considers this application favorably, a Motion to recognize a change in ownership would be in order. Since a Class C License already exists for this premises, no additional action is necessary. If approved, the License will be issued only after all outstanding paperwork and insurance certificates have an submitted.
