Minutes of February 11, 2012

Treasurer's Report A Financial Report was distributed by Dawn Fletcher Collins.
Celestial Celebration 2012 Wrap -Up
• Past attendees did not receive flyer invitation. Revisit the list and make sure past
attendees are included. Two separate flyers are sent to potential guests.
• Linda Hoefert would like a flyer included for the reservation.
• There are two known events that evening, Daddy and Daughter Dance and Orchesis
Show. Talk to these groups and see if there is the potential for date changes.
• Numbers for past attendees: 2007 (550); 2008 (545); 2009 (484); 2010 (349); 2011
(329) and 2012 (319).
• Dawn shared thank you notes received: George Elder, The Patels and Darci Nichols.
Several phone calls and e -mails were also received.
• Open Bar was well received. This was a last minute decision because of a contractual
negotiation. Background — we guaranteed 400 people at $12,000.
• Except for some peoples' food problems, the food was considered good. The salad and
potato dishes were exceptional.
• Decorations: The balloons were great and it was recommended that we never enlist the
services of the "balloon Lady" again.
• The sashes worn by the winners were positively accepted. Award winners were
congratulated all night long.
• MPTV: The girl who did the winner interviews did a great job.
• Next year move the balloon pick -up to 9:00.
• The photographer and his services went well.
• Disc Jockey: The music Gary selected was perfect. He chose music specifically for each "star ",
i.e. "People" for the "There Ought To Be More People Like You" award, and "We are the
Champions" for the "Champion for Youth" award, to name a few.
• Disc Jockey: Need to get commission members and attendees to request songs for the
DJ to play. The music needs to be mixed up better. Dancing did go later than it has in
recent years.
• Silent Auction: The auction brought in $2,455. In donations. The credit card machine
worked well.
• Public Works: Members were out by 3:00 p.m. on Friday and only needed to be there
for 1 hour on Saturday.
Commission Members shared opinions about future of the Celestial Celebration
• Shouldn't be skipped
• Next year will be the 20 anniversary of the event
• We are approaching the 100 anniversary of the Village of Mount Prospect
• It's good to honor people
• Possibly include a 50/50 split the pot to the evening
• Change venue
• Are favors needed?
• Heads /Tails game (used Lions Club Corned Beef example)
• Hold a meeting at Victoria in the Park Banquet facility
Next Meeting Scheduled for March 3, 2012 tentatively at Victoria in the Park Banquets
