Citizen Corp Counci Minutes 11/07/2011Minutes Village of Mount Prospect Citizen Corps Council November 7, 2011 3:00 PM Village of Mount Prospect Emergency Operation Center The meeting was called to order by Chief Malcolm at 3:21 PM. Those present: Fire Chief John Malcolm Police Chief John Dahlberg Bryan Loomis John Astreides Marcia McMahon A motion was made by John Astreides seconded by Chief Dahlberg to approve the minutes of the February 28, 2011 meeting - motion passed. There were no citizens to be heard. New Business John Astreides discussed some ongoing storm events that the CERT team responded to. John asked if CERT could have additional focus put on managing CERT resources during storm events. Additionally, if a representative responsible for CERT could be added to the E.O.C. staff during an event. Chief Malcolm agreed that resource management and a representative in the E.O.C. were good suggestions. Chief Malcolm and Fire Marshal Loomis would look further into implementing these suggestions. Chief Malcolm also mentioned the Fire Department has been working with the CERT team to split into smaller working groups with a specialized focus. John Astreides mentioned CERT team's N95 masks in regards to fit testing and annual OSHA evaluation forms. Chief Malcolm would look further into the requirements for fit testing and OSHA evaluation testing for N95 masks for the CERT team. Chief Malcolm advised the group the Village would again be applying for a grant for CERT team equipment. A brief discussion was on how the grant will be applied for and how needs were determined for the grant. John Astreides asked if any money would be allocated to the MRC team from this grant. Chief Malcolm and Fire Marshal Loomis would follow up with MRC representatives to see if additional equipment or supplies were needed with this grant. A meeting with the MRC representatives and fire department representatives was scheduled later in the week. Fire Marshal Loomis mentioned the upcoming "leap in the preparedness ". This event will be held on February 29, 2012 at Fire Station 14 with a focus on family preparedness. Old Business Chief Malcolm gave an update on the E.O.C. Software for the E.O.0 has been installed and training would begin in December. Chief Malcolm advised that fire extinguisher training system purchased by a grant was demonstrated by the CERT team during the Fire Department's open house this year. Chief Malcolm commented on how well the CERT team did demonstrating this training system. Chief Malcolm advised, the fire department is continuing to look for funding grants for emergency preparedness and equipment. Marcia McMahon mentioned an upcoming United Way Thanksgiving dinner event being held at Bristol Court Banquet (Mount Prospect) on November 22. Would appreciate the any support for this program. Motion for adjournment was made by Chief Dahlberg and seconded by Chief Malcolm, motion passed and the meeting adjourned at 4:08 P.M. The date of the next meeting will be February 14 at 3:00 p.m. at the Village of Mount Prospect Emergency Operation Center.
