HomeMy WebLinkAbout04/13/2002 SEC minutesMOUNT PROSPECT SPECIAL EVENTS COMMISSION Minutes April~, 2002 ATTENDEES: Lil Floros, Leo Floros, Bob Ancona, Della Baldwin, Dale Draznin, Corky Durra, Jan/ce Farley, Jill Friedrichs, Martha'Helm, Linda Hoefart Leo Floros called the meeting to order at 9:05 am. The minutes of the March 2, 2002, meeting were approved. The Financial Report was approved. Welcome'~o Mt. Prospect - 4/20: Dale Drsznin reported that invitations had been sent to 460 new residents. Corky Du~n will obtain the door prizes, and a decision was made to limit the prizes to one per family. Bob An~na .will inquire on the availability of the Central Park District facility for the October event. Do-It-Yourself Sousa - 6/9: Bob Ancona announced that the theme of the event will be "Lady in White". There had been a meeting with the Community Band people, and there will be a rehearsal on June 3. Maura Jandris will write an article for the next village newsletter. Lil Floros will obtain flags from ERA Real Estate. Fourth of July Parade: Jill Friedrichs annpunced the theme will be "Saluting our Everyday Heroes". She had sent invitations to 175 groups and organizations ~md had received 15 responses to participate. Block Party - 6/27: Bob Ancona reported for Steve Durlaeher that Steve had met with the Chamber of Commerce, and there will be another meeting on April 24, at 7:45 AM, in the Village Hall. Bicycle-Event: Leo reported that an idea had been presented for a bicycle rally and asked the Commission members for suggestions: 1. Come together at one location from various parts of the village 2. Use of Kensington Business Center- Maples Park 3. Schedule the event for Fall A committee was formed consisting of Bob Ancona as Chair, James Lang, Della Baldwin, Leo Floros, Janiea Farley, and any other interested person(s) outside of the Commission. .Celestial Celebration X: There wasn't any report at this t/me. Leo read a letter from Mary Catherine Mullen from the River Trails Park District about the VV-LllOW Trails Playground Pals program. A motion was made by Della Baldwin, seconded by Dale Draznin, to donate $400 to.the organization.
