HomeMy WebLinkAbout03/02/2002 SEC minutes MOUNT PROSPECT SPECIAL EVENTS COMMISSION .Minutes March 2, 2002 ATTENDEES: Lil Floros, Leo Floros, Bob Ancona, Della Baldwin, Date Draznin, Coiky Durra. Steve Durlacher, Janice Farley, Martha Heim, Linda Hoefert, Nlike Janonis, Jim Lang, Laury Youigquist: ABSENT- Jill Friedrichs Lil Florcs called the meeting to order at 9:00 am. She introduced the new members of the Commission-. Bob Ancona from the Mt. Prospect Park District. and Jim Lang from the River Trails Park District. The minutes of the January 5, 2002, meeting were approved. Block Party-Arts & Crafts Fair: Due to the resignation of the Chamber of Commerce Director Madeline Franklin, it was the recommendation of Mike Janonis to cancel plans for a July 27th Arts & Crafts Fair. Financial Report.- The final Celestial Celebration report was distributed and approved. Receipts totaled $31,705.00- Disbursements totaled $28,499,74, with an Excess total of $3,205,26. Celestial Celebration: Leo Floros read thank you notes from Shining Star recipients Jane Stavoe. Sister Joarme Made Schutz, and Jack Bornhoeft from the Community Presbyterian Church. Leo also thanked the Commission members who worked on the Celestial Celebration. A thank you was given to Leo and Linda Hoefert for their presentation of the awards. Stev6 Durlacher announced that Ralph Wilder has agreed, with a signed contract, to have his band perform at the Celestial Celebration X at a cost of $3000. Welcome to Mt. Prospect - 4120: Dale Draznin reported that she will contact Nancy Morgan for volunteers for a mailing to new residents. Jim Lang' will contact real estate agencies for updated mailing lists. The next Welcome to Mt. Prospect event will be. October 19. Because of construction, the Senior Center may not be available for the event so new space will be investigated; i.e. churches, schools, or park district. Do-it-Yourself Sousa - 6/9 at 4:00 PM: Steve Durlaclicr announced that he had met with the local representative from the Community Band. Laura Luteri has the mailing list from the past event. Flyers will be mailed in the next two weeks. @Martha Helm and Jan/ce Farley volunteered to copy the music Lil reported that Maura Jandfis will be traveling to Mt. Prospect's Sister City, Sevre France, and will be taking gifts from our area. St. Emily's 4th & 5th grade students wrote letters, which will be delivered to individual French students; Prospect High School gave cassettes from their Music Departments and Principal Mike Stevens included some sweatpants; School District 57 & 26 contributed, as well. A schedule of meetings and events was distributed, noting date changes for the Commission meetings in April and October.
