Mayor's Report 11/15/2011PROCLAMATION MOUNT PROSPECT, ARLINGTONHEIGHTS SUNRISE ROTARYDAY NOVEMBER 30, 2011 WHEREAS, Rotary International is an organization deserving of the community's respect and appreciation for its commitment to a broad range of humanitarian, intercultural, and educational programs, designed to improve the human condition and advance world understanding and peace; and WHEREAS, the newly merged Mount Prospect Arlington Heights Sunrise Rotary Club has been serving our two communities faithfully for 25 years supporting many worthy programs, including Operation Warm, Rotary's Polio eradication program Polio Plus, CEDA Northwest, literacy efforts including Read to Learn program; High School District 214 Community Education Women's Center; Leadership awards for high school students and Vocational Scholarships; and WHEREAS, an important source of fuunds to sustain these vital community endeavors will be the Club's eighth annual Rotary Holiday Breakfast and Raffle, to be held at the Mount Prospect Public Library on Wednesday, November 30; and WHEREAS, the leaders of the community are invited to lend their support to this gala event by buying raffle tickets and donning their very best holiday finery to provide a suitable court for the Prospect High School Madrigal Choir, which will entertain; and WHEREAS, the day for Mount Prospect Arlington Heights Sunrise Rotary Club's annual Holiday Breakfast and Raffle comes only once a year. NOW, THEREFORE, I, Irvana K. Wilks, Mayor of the Village of Mount Prospect do hereby proclaim November 30, 2011, as Mount Prospect Arlington Heights Sunrise Rotary Day in the Village of Mount Prospect, and urge everyone in the Village to partake of this annual holiday event and to remember how Rotary's contributions enhance our community. Lisa Angell Village Clerk Dated this I5 "' day of November, 2011 PROCLA,11ATIO N "TEDDY BEAR WALK WEEK" November 27 December 3, 2011 WHEREAS, in 1950 the annual Tedch Bear Waltz was started bA the Mount Prospect Public Library, Mount Prospect State Bank, and downtown merchants to provide a holiday tradition for the children of Mount Prospect; and WHEREAS, December 3, 2011 marks the 31" anniversary of' this annual event; and WHEREAS, the event will be celebrated with songs, stories, and a parade; and WHEREAS, the event will end with Ted E. Bear leading a parade of families and bears in the annual Tedch Bear Waltz; and WHEREAS, the Village of Mount Prospect recognizes this popular communitA event. NOW, THEREFORE, I, Irvana K. Willis, Mavor of the Village of Mount Prospect, do herebA proclaim November 27 through December 3, 2011 as "MOUNT PROSPECT TEDDY BEAR WALK WEEK," and on behalf of the Village I thank everyone who has contributed to malting the Tedch Bear Waltz a favorite holiday tradition for the families of Mount Prospect.
