Minutes of October 1, 2011

Call to Order 9:03 a.m.
Secretary's Report The Minutes from August 27, 2011 were e- mailed with copies available at this meeting.
Motion to approve the Minutes from August 27, 2011 was made by Linda Hoefert, seconded by Martha
Helm. No discussion was held, motion approved unanimously.
Treasurer's Report Mike Janonis distributed a financial statement from August 31, 2011 also included was the
Final Reconciliation for the 4 th of July Parade and the Do It Yourself Sousa event. Motion to accept Treasurer's
Report as presented was made by Jill Friedrichs, seconded by Linda Hoefert. No discussion was held.
Celestial Celebration 2012 Several titles were suggested: Shining Star Promenade, Mount Prospects' Winter
Formal, Shining Stars Winter Formal, Prom Night With the Stars and Mount Prospect Prom Night With the
Shining Stars. The final vote was and the title of the evening will be Prom Night with the Stars. The job list
was reviewed and letterhead was emailed to members. Teresa VanOpdorp stated the DJ has been booked for
$1,400. and that Brett has been requested to work the job. Members have been asked to think of prom music
that was popular "in their day" and to also bring prom pictures for a collage board. Bristol Court now has a
Photo Booth that they charge a fee of $150. Kathy Janonis will look to see if other companies rent for a lesser
charge. Dawn Fletcher Collins is currently working on the invitation and nomination forms.
Holiday Decorating Contest According to Paul Seils, judging will take place December 3, 4 and 5, 2011.
Nominations should be turned in by December 7 th and the winners will be named at the Committee of the
Whole meeting on December 13, 2011.
New Business
➢ A tree lighting ceremony will take place on November 26 at Village Hall by the Keystone.
➢ Suggestion was made to have a Special Events Building Banner that would have panels that can be
changed with each event.
2012 Tentative Dates Do It Yourself Sousa July 30; Family Bike Ride August 4 (tentative); Susan G. Koman
Breast Cancer Walk Mount Prospect leg August 11 and Holiday Decorating Contest TBA.
Next Meeting Scheduled for November 5, 2011.
