RESOLUTION NO.
16-86
A RESOLUTION ACKNOWLEDGING THE CONTRIBUTIONS
OF FIRE CHIEF LAWRENCE A. PAIRITZ
ON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT
WHEREAS, LAWRENCE A. PAIRITZ has served on the Mount Prospect Fire
Department over 28 years, being a member of the Mount Prospect Volunteer
Fire Department from 1958 to 1961 when he became a sworn member of the
Mount Prospect Fire Department, being the first full time firefighter in
the history of the Village of Mount Prospect; and
WHEREAS, in 1963 LAWRENCE A. PAIRITZ was promoted to Lieutenant in the
Fire Department, and in 1970 was appointed to the position of Fire
Chief; and
WHEREAS, the life-saving paramedic program was established under the
leadership of LAWRENCE A. PARITIZ, in conjunction with the local
hospitals, being the first community in the northwest suburbs to offer
this service; and
WHEREAS, during his years of fire service FIRE CHIEF LAWRENCE A. PAIRITZ
initiated many programs including the Public Education, Fire Recognition
Week, Children's Safety Festival, and assisted in the establishment of
the Central Dispatch System; and
WHEREAS, the Mount Prospect Fire Department under the direction of FIRE
CHIEF LAWRENCE A. PAIRITZ achieved the excellence necessary to earn a
Municipal Fire Insurance Class III rating; and
WHEREAS, FIRE CHIEF LAWRENCE A. PAIRITZ has earned the respect of his
peers, having been named FIRE CHIEF OF THE YEAR IN ILLINOIS in 1983, as
well as receiving numerous awards on the excellence of leadership of our
Mount Prospect Fire Department.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE
VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION ONE: That the Mayor and Board of Trustees of the Village of
Mount Prospect do hereby acknowledge the many contributions made by FIRE
CHIEF LAWRENCE A. PAIRITZ to the Village as a community and to the Fire
Service.
SECTION TWO: That upon the occasion of his retirement, .the Mayor and
Board of Tr ustees of the vi 11 age of r10 unt Prospect do expre s s
appreciation and good wishes to FIRE CHIEF LAWRENCE A. PAIRITZ and his
family.
SECTION THREE: That this Resolution shall be spread upon the minutes of
the Village Board and a copy of this Resolution shall be suitably
prepared and presented to FIRE CHIEF LAWRENCE A. PAIRITZ.
SECTION FOUR: That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect
from and after its passage and approval in the manner provided by law.
