HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes 26-86 08/05/1986 RESOLUTION NOs 26-86 A RESOLUTION CALLING FOR A PROPOSITION OF WHETHER THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS SHOULD BE ADVISED TO CREATE A REGIONAL AIRPORT AUTHORITY TO BE SUBMITTED TO THE VOTERS OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT AT THE ELECTION TO BE HELD ON NOVEMBER 4, 1986 WHEREAS, the Village of Mount Prospect is vitally interested in matters pertaining to air traffic at O'Hare International Airport and its effect on the residents of the Village of Mount Prospect; and WHEREAS, the Mayor and Board of Trustees of the Village of Mount Prospect are of the opinion that the General Assembly of the State of Illinois should be ever mindful of the concerns, interests and needs of the citizens of the Village of Mount Prospect and of the State of Illinoiss NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: SECTION ONE: That the following proposition shall be submitted to the voters of the Village of Mount Prospect at the non-partisan election to be held on November 4, 1986: Shall the General Assembly of the State of Illinois be advised to create a Regional Airport Authority to promote the economic development, to develop additional airport facilities in Northern Illinois, and to work toward relieving the extreme noise, pollution, air traffic congestion, and increased risk to public safety caused by the ever increasing number of flights at O'Hare International Airport? SECTION TWO: That the election shall be held in the voting precincts and that the polling places established by the County Board of Cook County, Illinois, which county represents one hundred percent (100%) of the registered voters of the Village of Mount Prospect. SECTION THREE: That the County Clerk of Cook County, Illinois, shall give notice of the election in accordance with the General Election Law by published notice thereof in one or more local community newspapers published in and having general circulation in the Village, the date of such publication to be not more than twenty (20) days prior to the date of the elections SECTION FOUR: A separate ballot shall be used to vote on such question which ballot shall be in substantially the following form: Shall the General Assembly of the State of Illinois be advised to create a Regional Airport Authority to promote the economic development, to develop additional airport facilities in Northern Illinois, and to work toward relieving the extreme noise, pollution, air traffic congestion, and increased risk ~ public safety caused by the ever increasing number of flights at O'Hare International Airport? Yes No SECTION FIVE: That the election shall be conducted by the election judges appointed by the County Board to act in the voting precincts at Page 2 of ¿. which said question will be submitted to the voters of the Village. SECTION SIX: That the Village Clerk of the Village of Mount Prospect shall, not less than sixty-one (61) days before the regularly scheduled non-partisan election to be held on November 4, 1986, certify to the Cook County Clerk the proposition as herein set forth to be submitted to the voters of the Village at said election. Such certification shall include the form of the public question to be placed on the ballot, the date of which public question was initiated by the adoption of the Resolution and a certified copy of this Resolution. SECTION SEVEN: That said election shall be held and conducted and the returns thereof duly canvassed, all in the manner and time provided by law. SECTION EIGHT: That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval in the manner provided by law.
