HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes 28-87 11/04/1987 RESOLUTION NO. 28-87 A RESOLUTION SEEKING AGGRESSIVE PROSECUTION OF CASE NO. 85-24229 IN THE THIRD MUNICIPAL DISTRICT COURT WHEREAS, in December, 1985, an incident took place involving the assault of two Mount Prospect Police Officers, resulting in the defendants' arrest with the charges of aggravated battery, criminal damage to property and resisting arrest, which incident was assigned the Docket No. 85-24229¡ and WHEREAS, the State1s Attorneys Office in cooperation with the Village of Mount Prospect, has sought judicial process relative to the resolution of this case, during which process 15 continuances have been granted and any further delay could seriously impair justice¡ and WHEREAS, by the very nature of their jobs law enforcement officers are placed in life and death situations on a daily basis and as such it is imperative that their safety be insured and the support of the community remain strong. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: SECTION ONE: That the Mayor and Board of Trustees of the Village of Maunt Prospect do hereby express their sincere concern relative to the judicial process as it pertains to Case Noo 85-24229. SECTION TWO: That it would be in the best interests of all concerned to bring this matter to trial therefore relieving the court system of this constantly re-occurring matter, as well as releasing the plaintiffs, defendantst witnesses and attorneys of further appearances. SECTION THREE: That the Mayor and Board of Trustees do call upon the Office of the State's Attorney and the Chief Judge of the Third Municipal District to take the steps necessary to bring the case being the subject of this Resolution to trial and eventual conclusion. SECTION FOUR: That the Village Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to forward a copy of this Resolution to the State's Attorney of the State of Illinois and the Chief Judge of the Third Municipal District of Cook County. SECTION FIVE: That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval in the manner provided by law.
