HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes 39-04 09/07/2004 vwl 8/13/04 RESOLUTION NO. 39-04 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ADOPTION OF THE NATIONAL INCIDENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM WHEREAS, emergency response to critical incidents, whether natural or manmade, requires integrated professional management; and WHEREAS, unified command of such incidents is recognized as the management model to maximize the public safety response; and WHEREAS, the National Incident Management System (hereinafter referred to as uN/MS') has been identified by the federal government as being the requisite emergency management system for all political subdivisions; and WHEREAS, failure to adopt NIMS as the requisite emergency management system may preclude reimbursement to the political subdivision for costs expended during and after a declared emergency or disaster and for training and preparation for such disasters or emergencies. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: SECTION ONE: That the Board of Trustees of the Village of Mount Prospect do hereby adopt the National Incident Management System concept of emergency planning and unified command. SECTION TWO: That it shall be the policy of the Village of Mount Prospect to provide training for public officials responsible for emergency management. SECTION THREE: That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval in the manner provided by law.
