"NATIONAL BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH"
OCTOBER 2011
WHEREAS October, 2011 is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and October 21 is
National Mammography Day; and
WHEREAS, breast cancer is the most common cancer site, and the second deadliest cancer
among women; and
WHEREAS, the chance of invasive breast cancer at some time in a woman's life is about 1 in 8
and the chance of dying from breast cancer is 1 in 35; and
WHEREAS, it is estimated that in 2011 over 200,000 women will be diagnosed with breast
cancer and more than 40,000 will die; and
WHEREAS, research has shown that taking advantage of early detection methods such as
mammography and clinical breast exams could help drop the cancer rate by as much as 30
percent; and
WHEREAS, death rates from breast cancer have been declining, and this change is believed to
be the result of earlier detection and improved treatment; and
WHEREAS, mammography - an x -ray" of the breast- is recognized as the single most effective
method of detecting breast changes that may be cancer long before physical symptoms can be
seen or felt.
NOW, THEREFORE, 1, Irvana K. Wilks, Mayor of the Village of Mount Prospect, do hereby
proclaim the month of October, 2011 as

"NATIONAL MAMMOGRAPHY DAY"
in the Village of Mount Prospect, and 1 encourage ourresidents to participate in this observance
and remember "Early Detection Saves Lives."

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 13 OF THE
VILLAGE CODE OF MOUNT PROSPECT
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT
PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS ACTING IN THE EXERCISE OF THEIR HOME RULE POWERS:
SECTION ONE: That in accordance with Subsection A of Section 13.108 of Chapter 13 of the Village Code of
Mount Prospect, as amended, the Corporate Authorities shall determine the number of Liquor Licenses
available in each Classification and shall establish a list specifying the number of Liquor Licenses authorized.
Said list is hereby amended by decreasing the number of "Class F -1" Liquor License by One (1) Little
America Restaurant Inc. d /b /a Little America Restaurant at 299 W. Central. Said list is as follows:
