ORDINANCE IMPOSING A MUNICIPAL USE TAX IN THE VILLAGE OF
MOUNT PROSPECT, ILLINOIS
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES
OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS AS
FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The President and Board of Trustees of the
Village of Mount Prospect, Illinois hereby impose a tax, pursuant
to Section 8-11-6 of the Illinois Municipal Code, upon the
privilege of using, in said Village, any item of tangible per-
sonal property which is purchased outside Illinois at retail from
a retailer, and which is titled or registered with an agency of
the government of the State of Illinois, at a rate not to exceed
1% of the selling price of such tangible personal property, as
"selling price" is defined in the "Use Tax Act", constituting
Section 439.1 et seq. of the Chapter 120 of the Illinois Revised
Statutes. Such tax shall be collected from persons whose
titling or registration purposes is given as
Illinois address for
being in the Village.
Section 2.
Publicationand Notice. The Village Clerk
is hereby authorized and directed to publish this ordinance in
pamphlet form and to make copies thereof available for public in-
spection at her office. The Village Clerk is further authorized
and directed to file a certified copy of this ordinance with the
Illinois Department of Commerce and Community Affairs and with
the Illinois Department of Revenue within thirty days of adoption
hereof. The Village Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to
cause notice of adoption of this ordinance to be published in
"The Mount Prospect Herald" a newspaper of general circulation in
the Village. Said notice shall be in substantially the following
"Public Notice"
Notice is hereby given that on Dec'bet 2, 1986 the
President and Board of TruStees of the Village of Mount
Prospect, Illinois adopted an ordinance entitled= "Ordinance
Imposing a Municipal Use Tax in the Village of Mount Pros-
pect, Illinois" and that copies of said ordinance are on file
and available for public inspection at the office of the
Village Clerk of the Village of Mount Prospect.

Section 3. Effective Date. This ordinance shall be-
come effective in the manner provided by law.
