HomeMy WebLinkAbout12/28/2010 CCC MinutesMinutes Village of Mount Prospect Citizen Corps Council December 28, 2010 Approved on February 28, 2011 3:00 PM Village of Mount Prospect Emergency Operation Center The meeting was called to order by Chief Malcolm at 3:12 PM. Those present: Fire Chief John Malcolm Police Chief John Dahlberg Bryan Loomis Thomas Henderson Carol Lively A motion was made by Chief Malcolm to approve the minutes of the November 2, 2009 meeting. The motion was seconded by Chief Dahlberg, motion passed. Chief Malcolm made a motion seconded by Chief Dahlberg to make Bryan Loomis the secretary for the Citizen Corps Council, motion passed. After some general discussion it was determined that meetings for 2011 will be held February 7th and November 7th. There were no citizens to be heard. Chief Malcolm gave an update on the CERT team and the expansion of the CERT team to approximately 50 members to meet the Village's specific emergency needs. The team will be trained in specific areas such as down power lines, traffic control, and fire incident responses. Each team member will be issued updated clothing to include a vest, hat, polo shirt and identification card. Chief Malcolm advised that the Village and Fire Department have applied for a grant to purchase a fire extinguisher training system to be used for CERT training and the Village's Emergency Preparedness Training Program. The Village staff will be conducting a table top disaster exercise in March. A possible large scale disaster drill will be looked at further once funds become available. Chief Malcolm also gave an update on the emergency operation center (E.O.C.). Audio visual specifications have been mailed out and are due by January 25th. Chief Dahlberg advised that the Police Department's Major Case Assistance Team used the E.O.C. and had very positive feedback and will be using it for their future meeting(s). Bryan Loomis gave an update on the informational boxes located throughout the community. The informational boxes will continue to be maintained by CERT team members and additional material will be forthcoming. There was a group discussion on how to better communicate emergency information with the businesses in Mount Prospect. Thomas Henderson expressed the need to use new technology to better communicate emergency preparedness and emergency information. The Council members discussed several available technologies, such as the Everbridge System and information boxes located throughout the Village. The group also discussed better ways to make business owners aware of emergency preparedness information. The group will research ways to make the information more available to business owners and businesses in Mount Prospect. Carol Lively updated the group that the Village has applied for the NACCHO grant. The grant will be used for the Medical Reserve Team. Notification will be made in 2011 if the Village has received the grant. Motion for adjournment was made by Chief Malcolm and seconded by Chief Dahlberg, motion passed and the meeting adjourned at 3:48 P.M. The date of the next meeting will be February 7 th at 3:00 p.m. at the Village of Mount Prospect Emergency Operation Center.
